CoolerMaster HAF XB Chassis

The crew at FunkyKit seem a bit on the fence about the CoolerMaster HAF XB. On the one hand the reviewer says he wouldn't buy the case but, at the same time gave the case and eight out of ten.

Is the HAF XB something I would personally buy? No it is not. I'm more of a fan of traditional shaped cases, but if you were looking for a hybrid of a case and a test bench the HAF XB does a good job of doing both but does not particularly excel at either.

They gave it an 8/10, so it's not a bad review. They thought mostly the same as I did when I got mine. After using it for a few months, I do not regret the purchase at all. I rate it higher than he did because I prefer to be able to install components without having to lay my case down on its side.

I have that case and it's so sweet, i just fit my skulltrail in it and
it's just such a nice case, so much airflow and so many positives.

the only thing is it take a table top to hold it, so you need some space for it. it just
doesn't go under the bench like most cases, i would say that is the only thing but for
people like me with a lot of space, it's great, set up on a bench right behind my main station!

i'll flash a pic later today!

Please enjoy that case for me.

The only question is are those stock CPU coolers "enough"?

I went through 6 of them in a row (I know unbelievable, crazy and how much I wanted this case) with flagerant chassis issues brand new out of the box - panels not fitting correctly that to force them shut using the thumb screws, case rocking diagonally and inside chassis paint issues.

Forced (lol) to get a Storm Trooper instead which is pretty much fine.

Wow, this is my second HAF XB and i love them. I haven't found to much to complaion about.
man you went thru 6 of them, that is wak.... i glad i got lucky!

The E5472 (12M Cache, 3.00 GHz, 1600 MHz FSB)
is holding stable at stock 3GHZ at just a little over 1.09v
That is very sweet. under idle is in the 30 - 40F range.
PLUS the HAF XB is super for air flow, so i was comfortable with
just staying with air.

Plus have you seen those cpu heatsinks up close, they are very nice!

Currently im using a Corsair 600T (the side panel with no fans on it) and was wondering if i would get better cooling with the HAF XB?

I picked up an XB out of boredom and I love it, my cpu temps are better than in my 550d also with a H100.
