Coolermaster Cosmos S question

Went to Fry's with my Brother today, he wants me to put together his new system this week, which I am happy to do. He bought some good stuff today;

- Coolermaster Cosmos S case
- Coolermaster 1000watt psu
- Asus P5Q Deluxe motherboard
- 4gb DDR2 PC8500 Kingston
- Intel E8500 3.1 ghz cpu
- WD Velociraptor 300gb harddrive
- X-Fi eXtreme Gamer audio

And top if off with ATI 4870x2 bad ass videocard. He already has the Dell 27" LCD, and other misc parts.


Ok my whole point is, I open up the Coolermaster box, take out the new case, and open the side panel to install the psu, and I see all these wires dangling out from inside the case ? WTF. I know there is no psu inside this case, I was totally confused what these wires are for, they seem connected to the top panel ? So I am to connect my new psu to this 24pin connector, and then gets connected back onto motherboard ?

So it seems alot of the main wires from the psu go to the case first, then the case wires connect to motherboard >? Totally bizarre never saw anything like this before.

Pics, your description is v. confusing.

There are wires to the front panel, but yea... not understanding what you're referring to.

I have a cosmos S

i think the wires you are referring to are the following:


1) fan wires
2) top connector wires (there are 4x USB, firewire, esata, headphones, mic)
3) also there are a couple power wires to illuminate the case


im pretty sure those are the wires you are talking about.. i can probably look inside mine and tell you more later but i am out of town at the moment.

Well those are your usual front panel connections, fan wires w/ adapters and whatnot. Just remove any of the ones you don't use.

Remove the motherboard panel to see what each wire is.

Yes, that one goes to the 24 pin of the PSU, and then to the motherboard - used for lighting/powering up the touch sensitive power button and the panel for the USB/Firewire/Audio connectors. Everything else should be the standard stuff found in all cases.

Look at the manual and see what they are....

As nsx mentioned.

One is for the front top touch power sensor to work. Without it connected, no workie

Others are for the eSATA, Front Microphone, USB inputs and Headset

You also get a Power Supply extension cable if needed.

Not confusing, just take your time.

Don't forget the 3-pin power cable for the bottom front case fan as well, mine was semi-well hidden and it's not included in the orgy of wires coming from the top of the case.

Does someone want to issue the warning about the self-destructing side fan?
