well, i got bitched at the last time i posted a case question in the "case modding" sections so i guess it fits here.

the coolermaster ATC-220B looks awsome and i found it at 2 sites for $100. It is discontinued though but i still like it. i read a review about it not having intake fans but i guess i could improvise. i would like to know if this was ment for watercooling( not an option for me) or what any owners have done to fix this.

I had one, it was a very nice looking case. For me, cooling was decent because you still have two 80mm exhaust fans to suck out all the warm air close to the top of the case. I would recommend using only two hard drives at most in the 3.5" internal bays becausse there are no airflow there (you could mod a fan over there though).

I'm not a big fan of the Coolermaster cases with the clear doors, but if it's anything like other coolermaster cases, I'm going to say its a good case :)

so.....i wont need any intake fans? and do u think there is enough room to mod some 120mm fans? (i dont know much about cases and cooling) i will only be getting one SATA HDD but plan to add a raptor in the future, i saw things called hard drive coolers(basically looked like 2 fans) could i just get one of those?

thanks for the replies :)

hmmmm  ......i saw that this case used to be ~$200 but damn! no one knows anything about it?

maybe its just outdated :( , although i dont really see any better looking cases with windows(my opinion)

its a very nice case, my gf just ordered an ATX-210-VX1 for me last night, hopefully its here before the end of next week.

anyway the power buttons are down the middle of the front panel so theres really no way to mount a fan on that panel unless you want to hack into it and move the power buttons/leds to another location.

shows pics of everything you'd want to see.

so.......from everything that i saw....i don't need and intake fan????...wierd......and if i just get a HDD cooler i wont have to worry about anything?

......i just really need to get this cleared up........(thats my only dilema)

if youre running a 10k rpm drive, id say to definitely run a fan.

but i had hdd's in my cases with no fans in front of them for years at a time and they were ok, but now i make sure i can cool the hdd's just because its a small thing to do that can go a long way.

so just to sum it up, you dont NEED a fan blowing air over them, but its a nice thing to do.

well, i guess i am going to get a HDD cooler just to be safe ;)

i plan on getting a raptor later on when the price drops a little :D

ill be picking up a couple around march when i start building my new comp. hope they are worth it :D

I actually had two 36G Raptors in the ATC-220 case. It will run hot if the system is under load but warm most of the time. I have pass along the system to my sister now so it has been running everything just fine for about a little over a year with no problems (still in RAID 0 btw).

I've also played around with placing an 80mm fan behind the hard drives (zip tie job) and that really made a big difference in cooling the drive. Even though there are no front opening in the ATC-220, just having some air moving around the hard drive appears sufficient enough. The fact that the entire hard drive cage is aluminum probably helped out somewhat. Anyways, I later removed the fan because it was a little too loud for me I am not the type of guy that is concerned with hard drive cooling. :) If you are concerned with hard drive cooling, then almost any hard drive cooler will work.
