I recall seeing this case 2-3 years ago and thinking it was amazing looking, but a little pricy at the time. Now it seems that the pricing is about 1/2 what it used to be, but it still has a really classic look to it. At $120...it seems like the best looking thing around, and I've had good experiences with the brand name before.
Are there any downsides to this case? I'm putting together a Conroe system in the next few weeks and it's still my favorite visually.
Is there any kind of quirk that would make me not want it? I've seen reviews online, but they're all from several years ago.
Anyone using it?
 
other than that its a little narrow and wont fit some of the best tower heatsinks (scythe ninja, tuniq tower 120) and its limited airflow, its a pretty nice case
 
The biggest quirk is cooling. The 2 front intake fans do not blow in air from the outside at all. That and also no 120mm fans. This issue can be fixed with some modding, but thats up to you.

When I had my Wavemaster case I did the following.
1) Made the fan in the back as intake.
2) Made the fan on the top of the fan blowing air out.
3) Removed the 2 front intake fans

The problem with this is there was no airflow to the videocard and HDs. Both got a little bit warm but the temps were acceptable.

Another one I'm considering is the Thermaltake Tsunami Dream. It has a nice look and appears to be a little more airflow friendly. I also like the default blue-light/black case effect which will look nice with my Saitek eclipse keyboard and ice-blue wallpaper.
Reviews seem to be good for that one, and a bit more recent. I guess as long as you install the PS first, it's a winner.
 
I still own the WaveMaster and i can affirm it's a very sturdy case with a very nice looks. The airflow is a real problem with this case however and the only way to get better airflow is to do some modding.

Due to this, I might be forced to get another case for my main computer, which is overclocked and generating a bit of heat. The case will get a second life as a file/media server.
 
the praetorians used the same skeleton as the wave masters. I loved my praetorian when i was using it. good aluminum construction, plenty of fan options (including blowhole), removeable mobo.
i believe they all use 80mm fans... most cases now have moved to 120mm. Overall a good quality case though. I'd recommend it.
 
i had the blue one until around christmas, when i got the gig aurora. it has 2x80mm "intake" fans, that are a couple inches back from the front panel, and you have to disassemble the whole front of the case to remove them. 2x80mm exhaust, and on the top panel there is a cut-out you can use for either an exhaust fan (80mm) or for usb/io ports. i put in a window (you could not buy pre made window panels at the time) and cut a blow hole in it for the vid cards. its a nice, very well made case, aluminum, bit heavy anyway. it appears to be larger than it really is. its a little tight woking inside the case. this not by any stretch "tool-less". everything is screwed on or in. great paint job. thick lacquer, like a show car.

from top - antec tru-control 550 control panel, 2 dvdr/rw with coolermaster aluminum bezels (very nice), some kind of 5 1/4 bay thing with fan controllers, usb, firewire, card readers, audio and video out, floppy with aluminum lian li bezel. you cant really get an idea of how nice the paint job really is in this pic.

the refection of the monitor on the case give a good idea of the nice paint job...
 
That is a really nice looking case and Warrior's right, the reflection shows how sweet the paint really is :)
Sadly, I don't really feel the case mod bug any longer. Years ago when I built my original Athlon and even my most recent P4 system I tinkered with the cases, but this time around I think I'm going with something easier. I just don't have the time to put into that I used to. In fact (running and hiding) I'm dropping the $75 to let Monarch put the whole thing together for me. I'm a die hard builder from years ago, but I just don't have the interest any longer.

I'm looking at 2 "stock" cases right now...

i saw a bunch of silver RC 730s at the Nvidia booth at PDXLAN 7 and they had some sick looking green colors coming from the inside... the case was a real eye turner...
 
still own my wavemaster after about 3 - 4 years. i originally removed both front fans, but then put 1 quiet one back in and connected it 2 my fan controller, so i get SOME sort of air in the front. the other thing i dont like about the case is the vibrations u get form HDDs with it. when my raptor is seeking data, i hear it VERRRRRy well. lol and its not the hDD either, originally i thought it was, so i RMAed and got a new one from them. same thing.

iam thinking of replacing it with the SS TJ-07 but iam VERY hesitant to drop 300 bucks on a case.......

when i bought the wave master it was 150 bucks. the paint job is still very good, even though i dropped a few things on it....when I will replace the case, I will pass it down to my dad, i just cant bare to sell that work of art. I also bought the real CM side panel with the window in it and that looks good too. so the total cost of my wavemaster comes to bout 200 bucks.
 
Looks good except for the stickers and no lighting... and I don't really like your fan grills. But overall looks nice.

despite its designm the praetorian 730 is built like a tank and is solid as hell
 
I just replaced my wavemaster with a silverstone tj07. I agree with the rest of the group here, the cooling isn't the best on the wavemaster. Other than that, it's a good case.

I'm actually cleaning up my wavemaster now to get ready to sell it.
