Cooler Master Stacker 832 RC-832

I decided to put a plastic window on top:D
If I can ever find one.

While not the best idea in the world from a cooling standpoint, that would actually look cool. I've seen that done in pictures I've found in forums, but I think the clear piece was custom made in every instance. If an actual window could be found, a Raptor X up top would be fairly unique and cool looking.

Putting your hard drive in that space makes very little sense. Heres what's wrong with that idea:

1.) Mesh makes the drive hard to see.
2.) Only one drive out right now with a clear window on it. (Raptor X)
3.) Only one drive can be placed there.
4.) Poor location for cooling.
5.) Not the most fun place to run cables.
6.) Replaces a cooling fan that can be used to bring cool air into the case or take warm air out of the case.

The last point is the major point I'd like to address. If the drive is placed in the normal drive cage then it gets cooled by a 120mm fan. This keeps the drive nearly cool to the touch at best to luke warm at worst. (Depending on ambient case temperatures.) Aside from the Raptor X, there are no windows drives. So what are you going to look at the label instead? You are adding a component that takes up a fan hole and therefore would more or less block air from coming in or getting out through that hole. Yes the rest of the fans can probably handle things fine with that hole covered and missing a fan. Even so, it just seems like a dumb idea to me. As far as cabling goes, I don't know about you guys, but I prefer to run cables for all my drives together. That is I bundle them together. So I wouldn't want to make another cabling run to the very middle of the cases roof. Just a personal preference, but I don't think I'd like it.

I don't mean to offend anyone but that mounting bracket to put a hard drive in that spot is quite possibly the dumbest accessory Cooler Master has ever come up with. I salute Cooler Master for doing something unique, even if it seems retarded.

Finally i installed it took me like 5 hours :/
Anyways after installing it, my windows boots soo slowly and my desktop icons dont appear until like 30 seconds later.. anyone know why :(((

You should fill up that side door with some fans.

why?

I never see the reasoning for cramming as many fans as possible in a case

unless he is going for max overclock, it's pointless - both the CPU and GPU have big coolers on them already and the motherboard should get plenty of airflow from the front and rear fans

is it possible to put one of those new 2x120mm black ice radiaters that are extra thin into the side panel and run a liquid cooling system within the case? or is the case too small for it?

Ditto. If one's really going for max overclock, why not leave the side off and plop a Window fan next to it. :D I believe my 810 might benefit from a single side fan, but 4? Would the trade off for noise really be worth the diminishing results of the OC?

Because that looks ghetto?

If there is a spot for a fan, I am compelled to fill it.

If I weren't going to not fill the door with fans, I'd take the door out, throw some lights in it and be able to see my components.

that's what I plan on doing, just haven't decided on a UV cathode or white
I can already see in there OK with the light from my zalman 9700 and crucial ballistix tracer

Spoken like a true junkie. I suppose if all those slots were filled w/ 800RPM Scythes, you'd be lookin' at great coverage + quiet love.

I'm still waiting for a case that's shaped like a tunnel w/ a 300MM fan in front and back. It'd have a giant heatsink at the top w/ heat pipes extending down to fit the components. :D

how do you like the Scythe fans?
I'm thinking of replacing my Yate Loons, just can't decide on a model

I actually have the E 1200 RPM 21db 49CFM. They're a touch quieter and blow more air than the Yate Loon I had. They're quieter than the Antec Tricool on Medium and blow a bit less air. On low the Tricool's become much quieter than the Scythe E, but push very little air.

So...sitting @ my desk I can hear the clock tick, the ceiling fan clickety, and when accessed heavily, my raptor 74GB rev 2 try to jackhammer through the bottom of the case. :D The Jing Ting's fan @ 100% can't be heard over the 5 Scythe E's. And for reference, I can begin to hear the 8800GTX over all this if I crank the NV blower past about 69%.

Yeah I bought one of those Scythe fans to replace my tri-cool - it's really quiet at 1200 rpm. I like it so much I think when I build my new computer I will use the fast kind with a fan controller (1600 rpms) everywhere. They undervolt well too.

As for this guys case - buy a fan controller. Also not sure you need that ram fan thing - I bet thats going to be noisy.

No I wouldn't put anything that slow in there. I want cooling POWAH!

I've got 4 100CFM fans in there. Not the quietest thing in the world, but effective.

When I had my Zalman 9500led, they recommened that the fan was directed to the rear of the case to help get air out of the case. Unless you are pulling the air into the case with the rear case fan, they are working against each other.

...and your sig say's 8!! What's your ambient/room temp and case/cpu/gpu/hdd temps? Lol, good stuff.

I have 8 in the case. 4 in the door.

There are two (one in each drive cage), one in the top, one in the back, and four in the door.

My room temperatures are about 70-72F. My CPU temps fluctuate a degree or two, but they are 27C-37C (2.4GHz stock), 37c-47c (3.4GHz) 39c-52c (3.6GHz). I don't monitor my hard drive temps at all. My GPU temps are about 5 degrees or so lower than average 8800GTX temperatures. As soon as the availability of the 8800GTX Danger Den waterblocks gets better I plan on ordering two of them and taking my video cards water cooled. I've already switched my CPU to watercooling and I plan on investing in a higher end cooling rig and getting more serious.

Partly, I avoided watercooling for so long because I knew this would happen. I can't get enough now. I want to water cool everything.

I would rather have 5C higher temps than a jet engine sound replica. I'm curious as to what fans you use Dan_D? I have tried a couple high quality 100cfm 120mm fans before and they all have loud motor whine and loads of airflow turbulence noise. Having 8 of them must be incredibly uncomfortable... Maybe you game with noise canceling headphones?

The sounds coming from the fans would drive you nuts no doubt. I care more about absolute performance than noise. It's not that I can't hear it, it's just that I can tune it out since it is constant. As to the brand of the fans, they are off the shelf Mad Dog cooling fans I got for $3 a piece on my discount at Comp USSR when I worked there part time. I'm not sure who actually makes them, but it said on the package that they are rated at 100CFM. They are much louder than my 120mm Cooler Master fans. They also have quite a bit more air flow.

I've occasionally employed ASUS Q-Fan, Cool n' Quiet and things of that nature. I found that the constant spinning up and down of the fans drove me absolutely crazy. I can't stand the changing of the noise. So all my systems from a couple of years ago onto now have the fans set for max speed all the time. About half the fans are just connected to 12v power and have no management of any kind on them. (I detest fan speed controllers.)

I've always been under the impression that one wants a happy equilibrium w/ regard to airflow. The Stacker's got 2 in and 2 out. How do you have your fans configured? 6 in and 2 out?
