Cooler Master RC690 Gallery

Yeah I busted the snips out on those popouts and the snips dont really cut through them since it's a really soft metal.

My first build. It has a Xigmatek SD964 on it now, the front honey comb grill is gone and I'll have a window installed once it gets here.

More case modding, I put the bottom intake fan grill in the front of the case and made a cover for the bottom fan grill to make it round to match the top one. Just need some matching fans now.

Big thanks to my mate sean for painting the case ( You cant really see the true effect of this paint in a picture , It is simply amazing to look at )

All comments welcome.

Ps CM690 rocks!

Masterkizz Thats a great job on the paint work really a good color! I,ve been thinking for a while on painting mine just didnt know how it would hold up on the grill in the front of the case.Did you sand the complete outside of the case including the grill? And did you use the etching primer also for the outside since part of it is metal and part plastic.Email me at [email protected]. Be real interested on what proces you used for preperation! But again it really looks great and you made that look your own. Now Im going ahead with my plans to paint mine its going to be two tone with some semi radical mods.:D

My friend painted the outside of the case using automotive paint , finished off with about 3 coats of 2k clear.
All exterior surfaces are only slightly roughed up with some 800 gritt paper before they are high filled/sanded/primed and finally painted.

The beauty of 2k clear coat is that it dries as hard a steel and is crystal clear , So coating the grilles and basically all of the exterior/interior surfaces of the case with it , Makes it basically scratchproof.

:) Good luck with your project.

Updated pics. Added some more fans, fan controller and changed the setup of the front intake fans.

I'm thinking about replacing some of the stock fans w/ some 140mm yate loons but I can't choose between these two. Would the quieter/slower one be sufficient?

140mm Yate Loon D14SL-12 Case Fan - Black (46.9 CFM, 25 dBA)
140mm Yate Loon D14SM-12 Case Fan - Black (62 CFM, 29 dBA)

What about these 120mm fans for the areas where you can't use a 140mm fan. I'd also like to use the same 120mm fan for my cpu heat sink.

120mm Yate Loon D12SL-12 Case Fan - Black (47 CFM, 28 dBA) (Out of Stock)
120mm Yate Loon D12SL-12 White LED Case Fan - Clear (38.5 CFM, 25.4 dBA)
120mm Scythe SFF21E S-FLEX™ Case Fan (49 CFM/20.1 dBA)
120mm Scythe SY1225SL12L "Slip Stream" Case Fan (40.17 CFM, 10.7 dBA)
120mm Silverstone FN122 Case Fan - Black (40.9 CFM/18 dBA)

All the fans I've listed can be found at petras tech shop.

If you haven't already decided :p my recommendation would be to decide what kind of oc you're aiming for, then upon that decision buy either the D14SL-12 or the D14SM-12. For the remaining 120mm front/back slots I'd get either of the Low RPM YL's, as from my experience of the 140mm version - they produce satisfactory airflow with very little noise for half the price of the Scythes.

Personally I have a q6600 oced to 3ghz on a AF7 with a pair of 140mm D14SL-12's running top intake/exhaust with another pair of zalman zm-f3's as front/back intake/exhaust. The highest temps I hit after 6 IBT repeats with all fans at 12v are 57/56/53/53 and at 7v are 66/66/62/62. At 7v the D14SL-12s are inaudible over the small amount of noise the zm-f3's make at a distance of about 2ft. Overall, though not totally silent I'm happy with the little noise my system makes.

Whatever you choose, keep in mind that your temps should be somewhat lower than mine as I use no sidefans whereas you'll have two. To me they seem to add little benefit for the annoyance of disconnecting them every time I want to take the side panel off.

Thanks! :)

Here you go a few more pics of my sidepanel:

btw guys I'm from Europe- Latvia! I bought this case about two months ago when it showed first time here!

Case wasn't so cheap as in states :p I paid for it 69eiros (which is about 96$) + 7eiros for side panel btw it come with 120mm Cooler Master fan as well!

Talking about my DFI board- yeah I can say it's the best board on P35 I have ever used- and real dream for insulation for benching with dry ice or even LN2, because it has digital PWM and no solid caps what you can see on most of the todays boards! Yeah it's great board for quad cores as well as dual core- rock stable PWM and I was really surprised about this board low temps! :)

Why I sold it? Actually I buy hw only for testing- usually I sell it after 1-2weeks! but current rig will stay as is till I get some 45nm chips for testing!

way to not tell them where you got the side panel from................

 I'm confused. He posted that in November of 2007. Newegg didn't start carrying the windowed side panel until around March of 2008. Before then it was pretty much Europe only unless you didn't mind paying international shipping.

Can you take a picture with the front cover off?

I'm curious how you got the bottom grill to fit in the front so well.

Excuse the blurry pics, I'm terrible with cameras Lol.

Still need to work more on cable management :p

I'm upgrading case fans soon, but I'm curious: Do the stock fans actually move any air? I can't feel much with my hands. Also, is it just me who is getting a really whiny side fan (stock on the side panel)? Depending on how i plug it into the PSU, it makes whining noises.

Can do. I'll take a shot of it later for you.

Didn't like the cheap look of the Sunbeam fan controller so I modded one of my spare 5.25 drive covers and some updated pics with the accelero.

So after much anticipation waiting for my shiny new case to arrive, I went to pick it up from my office mail room. Low and behold, what do my eyes see?....

!@#*($%^@#~!!!!!! Ooops (UPS) strikes again!

Fortunately the damage appears to be minor if any. I will take a look more closely when I get home tonight. The case looks badass tho cant wait to get started assembling this.
