Hey everyone,

I've been looking at this fan (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103063) as a case fan. According to Cooler Master the fans move 70CFM at "stock speed," and I'd need a fan controller to get it up to 90CFM. Is that only if I plug in the fans with the 3-pin connector? If I plug in the fans to a 4-pin molex, will they run at the full speed or will they run at the supposed stock speed?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Running the fans off a 4-pin PSU connector will cause them to run at full speed. And those Coolermaster fans actually aren't particularly good. If you want fans with a good noise to airflow ratio, take a look at Scythe Slipstream fans for front, rear, and side case fans and Scythe Gentle Typhoon fans for top exhaust and heatsink fans.

I have these fans and they blow alot of air for their value. I don't know if they are 90cfm but I have no way of measuring them. Right now I got a few more for only $4 each at the Microcenter a few days ago. I dont know if the price is still up, but here is the link to it.

Ah, if I had known that about a month ago I would be at Micro Center in a heartbeat. I just moved further away from it though. I'll see what prices are like for shipping.

just get these

they're not that loud and move an okay amount of air. best of all, they're cheap! so if you want to move more air, just add more fans.

Well, I was hoping to move a bit more air in the case (it's a 1st revision P180, so cable management is a bit of a problem), which is why I was looking for higher CFM fans. Those do seem like good value for the money though.

An R4 I bought I liked for about 2 months...then it started getting louder. Mounted vertically. Not sure why it'd start to die so quickly other than poor manufacturing/defect so I'd suggest staying away from them. I still use it but it's too loud to run as a full speed intake so it's been reassigned to slow exhaust.

Well that's no good...I'll keep looking. Did it perform as it was rated before things went south?

I have both the CM fans posted, the R4's and the ones linked to by stainremover, they both do not even come close to the slipstream or GT fans.
