Attention members of the PC master race, Legit Reviews has just posted a review of the Cooler Master MasterCase 5.

Cooler Master is a twenty year veteran of the PC manufacturing industry with a solid track record in the case and CPU cooler manufacturing department. With an ISO 9001 certified plant in Taiwan, in addition to their two other manufacturing plants in China, Cooler Master is able to produce a broad line of products and don’t have to rely on an OEM for their cases, as other case companies do. Cooler Master products generally offer solid build quality and value, based on our previous experiences at Legit Reviews.

Great looking case. Glad they put the black strip in the window to block the lower compartment, but I wonder if there was a reasoning of just not making the window shorter.

I just have a hard time considering any other case since I discovered the Phanteks line.

agree

One downside to this CM case is that you currently can't buy the extra parts like additional HDD cages etc.

Reminds me of those add on fan cards for ASUS boards that you can only seem to find on ebay

Those Phanteks cases do look good. Although I can't tell from the pics if they can handle a full sized graphics card like a 980Ti. It doesn't seem so based on the pictures of it. If that's the case then that's a non-starter for my builds.

depends on which case, but even the EVOLV ITX can handle a 13inch card so I think you are safe

I haven't had a Cooler Master case since the Storm Scout. I do miss the handles, even though I don't move my case often. They are pretty "handy" when I do though.

Also, I like the fact that you can put three 120mm fans in the front. Like others have said before, those Phanteks cases sure do look good as well. The main selling point for this one is the handles for me. I will probably be getting one to replace my Corsair 540 Air soon.

Actually you can put three 140 mm fans in the front which is what I will be doing. My case came today but I am waiting on some Phanteks PH-F140SP fans to get here next week before transferring my parts over. I am going to run three PH-F140SP fans up front and one in the back and use two of the stock Coolermaster fans on top.

Oh? Excellent, I didn't know that. I've been looking to get some of those 140mm Fractal Design Venturi fans. I just bought 3 Noctua 120mm Redux fans so I might run those for awhile =/ , Thanks for the info.

very cool, now this is a system that would actually make use of an 8 core CPU.

I might actually consider this case when for my upgraded unRaid box, I prefer to keep my drives internal where I can get much better air flow than the hotswap cages, I have no need of hotswap for a smaller system like mine.

Here it is with the 3 Phanteks 140 mm fans installed.

After researching cases for a few weeks I wasn't find anything I loved until I stumbled on to this one yesterday. I ordered one today and am pretty excited.

Do you have any pics up of your build? In particular I was curious how the front looked with the front grill installed and the white fan blades peeking through. And are they white LED?

Cheers,

You cant see the white fans at all through the front but the only lights inside are just the ones on my sound card and the logo on my gpu.

I cannot stand this case anymore as it will not stop creaking and popping. I saw a few others reporting the same thing on overclock.net forums so I know its not just me.

No just the plastic creaking and popping I guess. I have never had that happen on a case before but I did have a Dell monitor that would creak and pop like that and it drove me batshit crazy.

Yeah drastic changes in temperature cause that behavior in quite lot of cases that utilize lot of plastic or cheap plastic in big windows..
