Hey Fellow Hardforum'rs,

So I'm at a crossroads regarding my next case.

I've had an Antec Super Lanboy for several years, and it's by far one of my most favorite cases, unfortunately hardware has grown, and with it my case feels like it's shrinking. I barely managed to get my 260 into it a few months back, and realized it's probably time to upgrade.

I have pretty much decided on pulling the trigger on a Cooler Master Cosmos case awhile ago, just waiting for a decent price...however, at one point I was looking at Antec's "P" line, especially the new 183, HOWEVER there is a local store selling a P182 for $47, which is a killer deal no question.

I'm just not sure which would be more beneficial for fan cooling, being silent, and large enough to upgrade all my components for the next few years.

Having a P182, i think it's a great case. I love the separate chambers and the insulation which makes cable mangement great. I replaced the 3 stock fans with 3 Slipstream 800RPM and cooling is fine, only during gaming do I hear my 9500AT rev up (with a better HSF I doubt it would rev up at all). I have picky ears, and the only thing I hear is my 260, which drowns out my case fans. I removed the middle HDD cage and put the lower 120mm fan in its spot. This gives a lot of room for the video cage, and also better cooling since the fan blows directly onto my 260 and mobo.

If its $47 for a new P182, no questions ask, get it.

Actually I forgot to mention it's an open-box item, but I checked it out over the weekend and it's in great shape with all parts.

the cosmos will allow you to route most of the cabling behind the back side panel. which version of the cosmos are you looking at? the s model or the original. the original silver case has a dead spot for air flow below the video cards so you might have to buy a replacement windowed front side panel with a 12cm fan port. if its the s model your cooling will be much better because of the huge side fan.

I'm not a fan of the Cosmos S front panel, nor the styling as much as the original, and thus was considering the Cosmos case.

Either way, I pulled the trigger on the P182. I have 30 days to return it for a full refund, so I'm going to test it, but still keep my eye out for the Cosmos case.

Cosmos S is really misleadingly named.
It doesn't have any noise containing ability of original and is fully noise leaking open case with its side.

I love my cosmos, and the only one I would maybe consider replacing it with is the black model. Black is sexy.

The cosmos S just doesn't do it for me, and I don't think I could give up the silencing that the regular cosmos offers.

All that said, before I purchased my cosmos I had been considering the Antec P182; and later my father purchased it for his system. It's definitely a great case and I don't think you'll be dissapointed. Especially not for $47.

Hella nice deal by the way. Nice grab.

The only area i would say it loses at all to the Cosmos is in noise. The stock cooling setup of the Antec seems that it would likely be slightly superior though. I'm not an expert though, and haven't done any side by side comparisons.

Thanks again guys, I won't be picking it up until tomorrow, so we'll see.

Also, I was wondering if anyone knows or has done it themselves, but can the drive bay slot filters be removed from a P183 and used for the P182? Based on photos I've seen, they look like they should work...however, I can't seem to find that part on Antec's website.

Anyone know where I can pick them up from?

I hate to bump this, but I contacted Antec yesterday and haven't heard anything back.

Anyone else know of anything regarding my inquiry?
