Cooler Master Centurion 5

Haven't used one, but you can find other cases (at a lower price) with better airflow.
 
I just built my first rig last night with one, it's a fairly roomy case with a nice screwless design for holding the optical and hard drives. Taking the front panel off is a bitch, but the airflow is good considering the fact that the entire front of the case allows air to flow through. Not many places to hide your wires however, unless you are very creative. Oh, and the manual sucks balls. I'd still buy it again, cause it's damn sexy and it's more than large enough for me.
 
Thanks, Do you have any close up pics of the front? the ones on NE sort of suck. Also what about sharp edges, and sturdiness. Also how noisy is it? I'm not too particular on noise, but I don't want a roaring wind tunnel like my bro-in-law's Compaq 1.4GHz P4 system.

EDIT: To the Mod: I didn't realize this thread fell under the Case Modding category since I wasn't talking about modding a case, just buying one. I started to post here but since I wasn't modding and I didn't see a what I thought was a general cases category I put it in General Hardware, sorry.
 
I have this case. I love it lots and lots. No sharp edges. Mostly tooless (PSU and Mobo require a screw driver). I got mine for 45.99 shipped at newegg. The steel keeps the noise to a minimum. It's very sturdy, unless you get kinks in your sidepanels. What pictures of the front do you want? Like the mesh?
 
I can't get a focused picture. Crappy lighting conditions by my case... It's circular cut mesh. Here's the best I could do.

Excellent, high quality case. No door!, lots of room, nice finish, and comes with 2 fans. By far the best case I have owned.
 
Great case, i picked mine up from a local computer shop and would buy it again, edges are smooth, only con to it is that if you want to pull the front cover off you have to remove all your 5.25 bay drives first. heres some pics of mine when i first got it:

edit: airflow is great too, keeping my prescott @ 50idle/62 load and video card (7800GT w/stock) cooling idle45/load 56c, just switched to a KuFormula VF-1 plus just ramsinks and HS running 41/54 without the crossflow fan, just my cardcooler on the side (2x80mm 2400rpm)

That pink looks nice! I'm getting the blue one soon... It was actually "attempted to deliver"-ed today, but someone didn't answer the door... wtf?!

I hate how the newer centurions have a 120mm in the front, but this one doesn't... I might mod one in the front if there is room, but I'm not sure yet what i'm going to do about it...

Just bought one of them. I love it, true the front should have a 120mm. My blue led thermaltake keeps the hard drive cool. I read a review saying the tool less pci holder wasnt keeping them held tight enough. I havent seen or had that problem. They also said you can use screws if you would like. The thing is the holds are not tapped on my case...are yours? I bought the case without the side panel window. Then bought the window crazypc sells with the two 120mm fan holes. I painted the inside gloss black an the back of the case. Like the reviews state the mesh in the front is pretty free flowing, large holes and thin spaces between them. I was going to cut them out but I got lazy. I paid like 40 @ the egg. Great price for this case and the quality is awesome.

Also the front panel comes off easy..But you have to remove your drives..Which hardly takes time since its tool less. Remove them- grab the bottom with four fingers and pull away from the case. They all said you have to pry it off with somthing, I have no troubles.

I would definately recommend this case to all, in terms of cooling this did the job, has modding potential as well for people intersted in modding their cases and has a cool look to it as well with the mesh at the front.

Only downside to this i would say is that the mesh can attract alot of dust on it which would require you to clean every day by wiping it - gets annoying sometimes and also that i would like to have a 120mm fan at the front instead of a 80mm but it didnt bother me, but other then that - Perfect :)

Changed this case for the Raidmax Samurai 908 silver, not very good for cooling i think personally so have now gone even bigger fot the lian li pc 75 case which im painting this at the moment.
 
I have one, I like it for the most part. here are some of the tings I like and dislike....

pros:

1. mesh - alows for good air flow
2. 120mm fan in back
3. somewhat lite case.
4. NO DOORS!
5. ez access to front USB, FW, and audio (no door)
6 5 - 5.25 bays
7. mostly screwless (for cards and drives)
8 CPU hole - on non window case.
9. nice size not to big not to small

Cons:

1. front besel can be hard to get off (but at least it dont fall off)
2. front pannel power button falls off (needed to glue on)
3. mesh dust - with the good air flow the mesh gets dusty
4. only a 80mm fan in front (needs to be a 120mm I think...)
5. holes in bottem of MB tray so you can have better cable mangment
6. take the silly logo off front of case...

in the last week i have built two computers, and in both i used this case (for medium range builds). Working with this thing for like 4 hours this week gave me a pretty good impression of it. Good sturdy build, mostly tool free install, decent fans (quiet), and the mesh is good quality. It's a stylish case without looking gawky like most Tt cases tend to look. For someone on a budget it's a great case.
 
I got mine in, not a bad case, I still wish it was a 120mm in the front, doesn't look like it'll be easily moddable, either. It needs a nice hole next to the PSU so you can route the cabling through the back, otherwise the case is a good, cheap alternative to the nicer stuff. I used to use a Li-Li PC-65, but I think this case will serve me better for what i'm doing.
 
wow. i've seen a lot of good things to say about this case. I"m definately comfortable getting it. Thanks guys. Will let you all know when I get it it.
 
It's a great case for the money. Though you can't really hide many wires in it and my front audio sounds like shit with distortion.

Yeah I love my Nikon D70.
I'm not sure where you could get the Logitech Elites. I bought mine 2 years ago for my PS2. I could of gotten a cheaper one, but I had a good feeling about it and it was USB.
 
ah alright man, ive searched all over for that keyboard i cant seem to find it, so far ive gotten a microsoft intellimouse explorer brand new for a good price and i juss need a decent keyboard :p sorry for the off topic posts, OP, btw the centurion 5 is indeed a nice case with a solid build and a nice finish to it and i would recommend going for it, you wont find a better case for the same price ;)

How much would someone be willing to pay for a Logitech Elite?

Anyways, I was originally going to put a window on mine, but it just wouldn't look neat and clean that way. I think closed cases are better that window'ed ones.
 
okay here's an update, I went ahead and boiught one off a guy (or girl) on eBay for 45 dollars shipped. He (or she) also included an extra 120mm and 80mm fans. If it works out to not be a sour deal, I'll have saved about 30 bucks. Wish me luck.

Centurion is a great value case that does its job well.

i've got a Centurion 530 that i'm pretty happy with.

just an fyi - the side panel window option used to come with a god-awful applique from CM.

Because of complaints, the newer releases of the Centurion don't have the applique - so if you do want a case window from the factory, make sure you get a later revision... unless you actually want the applique.

the one I bought doesn't have a window. I don't like windows in cases.
 
cool - to each his own.

i don't have one either but I don't like the pre-drilled vent holes they have on there (one round CPU duct hole and a rectangular VGA vent).

So, rather than cover them up, i ordered a window kit for the case. But then i found out about the new case windows that you can order directly from CM (not in retail or resellers).
So I'm going with that.
 
i just called CM directly and asked them for it. 1 month turnaround time when i asked about a week ago (being shipped in by boat).
 
i believe they said about $15 for the panel and $10 for shipping :eek:

$25 total isn't too bad tho.
 
Has anyone modded this case to have a 120mm fan in the front? The airflow is decent but I want more! Any suggestions would be great.

i've mentioned this in some of my other threads but what i would suggest w/ the centurion is to buy the optional 3-bay HD cooler w/ 120mm fan and use that as an intake.

The centurions (and stackers) have plenty of drive bays for that and the drive bay covers act as natural grills / filters.

for instance - top two drive bays for optical drives.

bottom three for coolermaster 120mm fan intake / hd cooler
 
Only problem I see with that is that the filters get clogged and the ones on the drive cover are kinda hard to remove and even harder to put back in.
