just bought a ASUS P6T mb,and a coolmaster elite 360 case(horizional), I am not sure what cpu cooler to get. I will be putting a 920 cpu with nvidia 285 (1 gig) and 300 gig velicoraptor hd, there will be not a optical or floppy(I use usb for both and unhook when not needed).

have a 700 watt ps with removable cables ,so i can min the airflow problems.

I plan to OC just to get it to 3.0 ghz,and want to use air.

looking for a simple easy to install cooler.

oh there will be either 6 or 12 gigs of ram and vista 64 bit OS(just for completeness of specs)

any suggestions will be great

Thank You

Hmm, that is a fairly slim case - you might end up being best off with Intel's stock cooling fan (I hate to say that). Better yet, you can try to get your hands on one of the beefier stock coolers from the 965/975 chips: they cool better and have a low/high speed fan control to give you more versatility. Either of those should be low-profile enough for your chassis; unfortunately all of the other i7 air-based coolers I am aware of would be too tall (TRUE, Coolermaster V8, etc).

Does anyone know if Zalman has flower-style heatsinks out for the i7 yet? That low-profile sort of setup should also work, if one exists.

Stock cooler is more than adequate for only 3.0GHz. Maybe just add some TX2 or MX2 TIM to get a little bit more out of it.

I ordered a axp-140 and s-flex fan, will let you know later how it goes hope to build over the 4th holiday
