I would like to overclock my 955 from 3.2hgz to around 3.6ghz-3.8ghz, but I don't think the stock cooler will be able to handle it. As it is it already creeps up close to 60c under load. On top of that, the stock cooler is very loud when it revs up during gaming. What would be a good cooler for around $50 or less? I would prefer to use the existing mounting bracket so I don't have to take out the motherboard, but my purchase is not dependent on it. Looking around it seems like a lot of people are recommending the Hyper 212+.

The hyper 212 is a solid option yes. You wont find much better for $30. And I dare say you would be hard pressed to find anything better without spending $65+

I'm using the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro from my socket 939 build I retired. Planning on grabbing a 212 real soon.

You temps are high for stock when I ran my 955 whit the stock hs my temps where 60ish at 3.8. That said if you will be happy at 3.6 any hs will do you and yes the 212 is a good hs. You might whant to cheek your case air flow and see if you can inprove it some while your at it

Airflow doesn't seem too bad. I am adding additional exhaust and intake fans as soon as I grab a 3 pin to 4 pin power adapter. The ambient temperature in my room is usually pretty high all year around.
