Cooler at higher speeds?

I'm actually pretty confused right now... Under simple tasks, my Phenom II X4 940 was running at around 51*C give or take. Needless to say, my room temp is usually pretty high, which deffinatly attributes to that, but I decided today I would try and push it a little bit. I know the basics of overclocking, but I've never done it before. So I tried today. All I did was moved the multiplier from 15x to 16x. Its running at around 45*C now.... Anyone care to explain this, or try and explain this for me?

What hsf are you using? Is your motherboard controlling the cpu fan speed? If it is, it could be the bios cranked up your fan speed. Do all x4's run that hot? Seems a little high to me.

stock heatsink. fan speed is set to auto on the motherboard.

I've looked around, and a lapped 940 was running at around 41*c idle and almost 50*C on load. I'm honestly not entirely pleased with the heat either since my room is the hottest in the whole house, but not much I can do. I'm probably going to watercooling soon anyway.

Watercooling won't do anything about the heat. The CPU will output the same amount of heat regardless of how you cool it down. The only way to reduce your room temperature is to cool it down with some kind of air conditioning or exhaust out the hot air somehow.
