I have a FX 5500. The stock clocks are 270/400. I downloaded Coolbits and I have successfully OCed the card to 310/464. When I try and push the memory to 467 and then test changes it tells me that the card failed to run at those speeds and to lower the speeds and then try again. So I readjust to 464 and everything is fine. I have never experienced any artifacting at all. Is this just the limit of the memory or why does it not let me clock the memory any higher? Like I said, Even at 310/464 3DMark runs perfect. Wasnt expecting to just hit a wall like this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Would some RAMsinks help the problem or would it be a waste of money?

Download Rivatuner.

seconded. The coolbits OC limiter is notoriously flaky. Though it may be right that the limit is quickly approaching...don't expect to get a LOT more out of it with rivatuner.

I take it that rivatuner is some sort of tweaking utility like coolbits. I found and read a FAQ about rivatuner. I got somewhat confused. It sounds like it is much more complex than Coolbits. or is it fairly straightforward? If anyone can give me some basic info on rivatuner that would be great because i am not very familiar with it.

Also how many people use these Ramsinks and do they accually help? They are fairly cheap and if it allows for a higher OC it seems like a good thing to do. Is their a big difference between aluminum and copper ones? thanks

ok i downloaded rivatuner and read the FAQ and Readme. It sounds like it is a cool program and that it offeres many features but im still not sure how to use it. Can anyone helf me out? Is there a tutorial anywhere out there I can read? thanks

ok after much searching though forums i figured out how to use the rivatuner overclock tool. However I am having the same problem as I am with Coolbits. It wont let me OC the memory any higher than 466. When I try 467Mhz it gives me the error message "The driver failed to pass internal test with clock frequencies you are about to set. Please decrease the frequencies and try again." I even tried noth the 77.77 and the 78.01 drivers. And yes i used Driver Cleaner. Still nothin. if anyone has any other ideas that would be great. thanks

dont use COOLBITS

FRIED MY 7800 GT and i let the program do it.

 thanks. anyone else got any ideas, why I cant clock my memory above 465?

well I successful got the card running at 320 core and 465 memory and it made it through 3DMark without a hitch but with only a small gain. Since I've still had no luck on increasing the memory above 465Mhz. I guess I might have to call it quits as I imagine only small increases if any will come from increasing the core clock any further without also increasing the memory clock. Thanks to those who helped.
