In your experience how accurate is this button for getting the best overclock.

On my last card (5900 flashed to 5950) I had to back both the core and the mem down a little bit to get it stable.

I just got my BFG 6800 GT, and I was just getting ready to overclock it.

Just wonder what everyone thinks.

In something as finicky as overclocking no automated process can ever match a manual overclock and testing for stability.

It was a nice starting point. Especially since it told me I should be running my GT OC at Ultra OC speeds :)

I've heard on a forum or two that it's autodetect is fairly conservative, which is different than your experience I see. For me, I've had no problem overclcoking to it's settings in far cry and so on, but I haven't pushed it further and won't (why, when it's already at 420/1100...)
