Well, I came across this beatdown PC at a friend's shop. Its a Voodoo Rage F1. Turns out his boss's son bought it way back in 2003. A couple years ago the PSU took a dump and fried the mobo in the process. Not sure what else is junk, but I wanted the case to mod. Made him a $50 offer for the works and he took it. It has a AMD X2 4400, 4x512gb Corsair Platinum XMS PC3200, a Creative Audigy 2 ZS sound card and a Lian Li mem card reader. I put the sound card in a spare pc and it seems to work just fine. Not sure if the RAM is toast but my spare pc will not post with it in. (not sure if it is the RAM or the Mobo) I don't have a working AMD 939 board, so gonna have to swing by my buddy's house and try it in his. Anyway, got a sweet case and a decent sound card for $50.00 Anything else is just gonna be a bonus.

My plans for this one. Fully polished case. Its made of aluminum so figured it would be cool to sand it all down and polish it. I'll post up more pix as the work goes forward. Got a few things done tonight. Tore the case apart, polished the HD cage and the floppy cage. Also tested out polishing the case feet. Gonna leave the red anodized chassis alone, it look good. Thinkin about building a couple top handles kinda like my Sugo case. Thinkin about going with a Corsair H50 cooler and mount the rad to the top with a custom blowhole and a pair of 120s on the rad. Gotta get some more measurements before I start chopping on this piece of history.

LL PC65, anodized chassis, custom side panel, backplate, and front door? Interesting. The flash is tripping me out; I can't decide if that's orange, red, or orange/red iridescent.

See if you can figure out how the front door is attached. It'd be great for anybody interested in a door for their PC65/75/7.

Couldn't you just've bought a regular Lian Li an polished that one?
The red anodizing is ULTRA-RARE!
There are only a handful of these cases left, anodizing instead of powder coating the parts is quite expensive, and you just had to trash it. Great.

Sorry bout the diff shadez of red. It is in fact kinda between orange and red. The pix without the flash are more representative (too big of a word for this early, srry) of the color. The front door is massive. Machined from a solid piece of aluminum and it weights prob 3 lbs itself. It has no hinges, but swivels on two pins...one top, one bottom. I'll snap a couple close ups for ya after bit so you can see it.

I too think the black looks fantastic, but can't keep it as is. The previous owner was less than careful with this Rig. It was completely choked with dirt...NO LONGER considered DUST...and the case is scratched up pretty good. Looks like he used the top of the case to hold lots of items and it can't be left like this. Before I get into the sanding and buffing....I'll give it a real good cleaning and see how bad it looks. If it is too trashed... I'll polish it and if I don't like it...It'll just get a scuffing and my buddy will shoot it with some fresh black paint.

I don't think it is ruined. I also don't think I trashed it.
In my defense.....those two cages are the only red parts that are getting polished. Necessity is the mother of invention. The cages look fine in the pix, but in person...they were all scraped and scratched from years of abuse and lack of attention in mounting hardware. The areas around the bolt holes were noticeably worn and looked shabby. The outside is equally beat up. If it were pristine...things would be much different, but I don't care if it is rare or not....I'm NOT gonna put it together and have it LOOK bad and it DOES in person. If you wanna sell me a Lian Li like this for $50.00, I'll take it! ;) Hopefully if ya read this and understand the condition of the case, you'll be able to forgive me and just maybe you may like the end result. If not, then :p ;) :D <===that is a joke,but sometimes these little jokes don't go over well in text.
 
ok, if it was really as bad as you say... though I've polished quite a few LiLi's over the years, you can minimize scratches pretty well (and they are [H]ARD to scratch to start with! ).
The price - meh, its okay. Got a S80B with a rad cutout in its top for 70Euros, my PC-777 black cost me 150 Euros, the old PC70 was 25 Euros (although without any slot covers or hd mounting cages), the brand new PC7B I got for a friend was 60+S&H... they are not that expensive!
Slightly used Cosmos 1000 go for 100 Euros here, I got my brand new TJ07 black for 140 + S&H - you just have to look and strike at any oppotunity that you may get. Don't ponder, just buy it - can always sell it later for the same price or more :D
 
Well, this is an old thread. Was going thru the FS section and came across this one... http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1594542 Fella selliin a Voodoo case. Well, it got me thinkin about this old thread. I didn't follow up with pix for fear of hearing more comments about my plans for this case. I didn't follow thru with some of them, but like stated earlier, those plans were to be implemented after seeing how bad the case looked. I got a few pictures of it as it sits now. The only things I ended up polishing were the feet, top (pic with the sli and CF bridges), lower part of the front bezel and I used another HD cage from a different LL case and cut out the circles to an open retangle and polished it so the Raptor X could be seen. Overall, I think it looks great. I'm curious about the opinions of others here. Whatcha think?












 
The two polished pieces bother me just cause they stand out from the rest of it, but overall it looks really nice. Good job :) I wanted a Voodoo case for a long time but forgot about em years ago.
 
For some reason the polished intake on the front doesn't look like it belongs. But I do like the polished feet and the HD bay. You did a beautiful job.
 
I have an identical case....I also need to freshen my system. i5 2500k, 6950 video, 8 gig's of ram etc. Have a good power supply but was wondering how well your case keeps your video card cool? Some have told me that a 6950 wouldn't be any problem keeping cool, others have stated that I need another case. Was wondering what your thoughts on it were? I now have two 8800GT's in SLI and I must keep the side cover off in order to keep the video cards happy.

Are those the stock fans up front? Mine are black....I do have a couple of Vantec Tornado's in the closet...but I don't like wearing hearing protection when I game lol

The front fans are not the stockers. The originals were getting fairly loud. I had a couple aluminum ones (forgot the brand) sitting around and tossed them in. They don't push much air, but seem to work fine. The problem you will run into with this case...no room! It is very cramped as far as video card selection. I am currently running a 560ti and it BARELY fits due to the HD cage location. If you remover the cage, move the HDs to the upper bay, you can run any card you wish, but that really limits you to 2 HDs. As for heat, my ti folds 24/7 and stays in the mid to high 70s. I've had other much hotter running cards (GTX260, 275 and SLI'd 460s) and I've had no issues with heat so far, but I wouldn't consider this case one with good cooling. I'd imagine with some decent fans up front it would work a bit better, but for my uses now...its does ok. A single 6950 wouldn't be outta the question as long as you know the size will require the HD cage to go by by.
