Looking for cool and quiet case to buy. I dont need anything flashy, windows, etc ... just something utilitarian and provides good ventilation and is quiet. Was thinking of the Antec 183, any other suggestions please

The Fractal R3 is cheaper, and better and worse in some ways.

This somewhat depends on how much you are willing to spend or work on the case.

Swapping fans and adding your own dampening material can change things dramatically as well.

are you overclocking the i7? i dont think they put out a lot of heat at stock clocks so that would help with the air flow more air flow i think means more noise some of the mid to high end in win cases are very ugly, but are pre sound dampened and quiet usually. fractal is always a good case to go with

I'd also recommend looking into dampening materials. "Quiet" is like 90% depending on fans/coolers and dampening material, and like 10% on the case itself. The Fractal R3 is indeed a good base for people afraid of noises. With the i7 you can't go "passive" so you may want to go for rather big fans.

i dont mean passive, just low speed fans very quiet some yate loons will do the trick foam is good, and if you dont find weight you can get the thin asphualt sheets or dynamat for cars but the silver on it looks tacky but if your not showing off the inside it would be ideal
