Hi, question about controlling the CPU fan here. I built this computer a year and a half ago and I'm using the Asus P5b-e board. I recently wanted to throttle down the cpu fan as it has been running at max speed this entire time. I understand that you aren't able to use PWM for fans with only 3 pins but you should be able to control them with DC correct? I have updated the bios to the newest version and I still cannot control the fan speeds. I also don't believe that there is a DC control option for this board. Am I just screwed with controlling the cpu fan on this board? Hopefully someone knows a fix for this with this specific board. Oh, and I've also tried speedfan with no luck and the fan I'm using is the Zalman 9500led. Thanks guys. Oh, and for future reference on buying a motherboard, is there some way of knowing whether or not it will be able to control a 3 pin cpu fan?
