Controlling Fan Speeds

I have a Vantec Stealth 120 and would like to control it's fan speed (I believe you can go anywhere from 5-12V). Is there a way to do this other than buying a FanMate2 or some sort of fan controller other than manually rewiring the connection?

How do I do it? I'm considering buying some Yate Loons but would like to run them at 7V instead of 12 to be quieter. Would I do something similar to those to control the fan speed?

Thanks!

Controlling input voltage is easy.

Fan controllers, baybusses or rheostats can do that. THIS:
http://jab-tech.com/Sunbeam-5-1-4-Rheobus-Kit-BLACK-pr-2530.html
is a nice controller for just over 10$. It can control up to 4 15w channels (that's like, 16 fans if you splice the connections right).

The other way of reducing your input voltage to a dead 7v is a simple wiring trick. Connect the RED input of your fan to the YELLOW wire of a molex connection. Then, Connect the BLACK input of your fan to the RED wire of the same molex connection. No ground pins in the molex should be in use. This will run the fan at 7v.

Cool, thanks for the info. Only thing I don't like about the Sunbeam is the red lights - everything else in my case is blue. Have any recommendations on some sort of 5.25" fan controller with just blue lights, preferably black to match my case as well?

Um do a google search for a 5.25" bay Fan controller. There are some nice ones out there, but way too many to list :).
