is there a way to assign bandwith on a home wireless network? i have 4 computers set up to share a DSL connection. 2mb down/128k up verizon DSL. can i give each user 512k downstream limit?

Short answer, not unless your access-point supports it. There may be a way you can do it on the clients, though I wouldn't know for sure. You'll have to talk to an OS person about that. Another solution would be to install a rate limiting device between your AP and router and limit traffic flows by IP. That'd be the path of least resistance IMO.
