My controller doesn't seem to work on my pc anymore. Last time I used it was before SP2 came out, so I don't know if that transition caused conflict with it working... or what...
It's not a usb controller, rather the... port one? It's plugged into my soundcard. The controller itself ISN'T broken, it works on my upstairs computer.
When I go into control pannels, and "game controllers", try to calibrate it, it says "Your game controller is not connected properly. Please verify it is plugged into your computer"
It responds to only a few directions, and very minimally, but if I push other directions, I get that error. I've tried adding different 'installed game controllers' to the list, doesn't seem to work...
If someone could contact me personally, to help, that would be great, if not, suggestions here are welcome!

Won't make a difference, they worked before with normal drivers, I didn't need to update any drivers for my upstairs computer.
Besides that, my drivers are up to date.
 
well..i figured since other companies released drivers for SP2....anyway..check the device manager does it say anything about it at all?

Do you think in all your infinite bumpage, you could have posted the brand and model of your controller so we can start to invesitigate? You bumped this thread quite a few times (which pisses of the mods) but yet you didn't even bother to give us any info that might help as answer!
 
No one's bothered to ask. If someone would offer their help, i'd know what to tell them.
It's a "Radio shack" controller, I really dont think there's any other name to it than that.
It says windows 98/95 on the disk, I have windows XP.
That's not my problem, I downloaded the 3rd party drivers, like stated earlier, and it's worked PERFECTLY up until recently. The drivers itself isn't a problem, the game controllers section just says "Not plugged in properly", yet on my upstairs computer, that's an XP SP2 works fine, is detected perfectly, no problems. Could it have something to do with my soundcard?

We should have to ask for necessary information if your coming to us for help. Considering the controller probably has no support and sounds like some cheapy generic, my advice would be to go get yourself a cheap USB one. They aren't expensive, and it would work without a problem.
 
so there's nothing i can do about this one now?
Maybe uninstall the port, then reinstall it? anything?
 
I guess you could try removing the port, or updating the drivers in general for the sound card.

If your going to use the onboard sound card for the motherboard and it has a gameport, I don't see why you couldn't try it. By now I would have just gotten a USB one.

Explain how you can have any confidance whatsoever wtih your driver update you "believe" you know what hardware you have?

Your problem could quite likely be nothing more than the wrong drivers. Take a few and figure out what hardware you have, then make very sure you have the right drivers for your specific hardware. It matters a lot........

the A7N8X has a PCI bracket with a gameport. look in your mobo box if you didnt install it
 
don't really understand this pci bracket...
I downloaded the latest drivers for soundcard, should be fine...
as for usb, i have a usb controller, but having 2 is good when i have friends over to play 2 player games!
and i dont feel like buying a 3rd controller when i got a perfectlyl good one here.
