Running ZFS for many years now using nappit and openindiana. I have a LSI 1068 and my drives are dying / getting old. I bought some new 3 TB drives only to find out the 1068 would not go above 2TB

Am looking at a SAS9260-8I or SAS9211-8I for same price, both PCI 2.0 with 8 ports. My question is about the IT firmware to flash. I know it is available for the older 9211. Not sure about the 9260

Seems like the newer 9260 would be a better buy as long as it can be flashed to IT. Any feedback on this card? Decision comments?

Not able to get any files from Broadcom. Surely firmware is available still

Stick with an HBA. IT mode works on a few RAID cards; for example, the 9240 & 9211 are essentially identical. That's not the case for the higher-end cards, such as the 9260. I doubt you'll find IT mode on any card which supports a battery or RAM cache, if that's a useful rule of thumb.

Keep digging at Broadcom. They've made a mess of the support site, but the FW is there.
