Controller Learning Curve: From PC to Console

Take this as advice from a hardcore pc gamer that haven´t even touched a console prior to the 360 and then Wii. I have touched a gamepad of course since I used it in some games on PC like GTA titles and sport titles...

But really the main advice is stay away from console fps games! have you played fps games on the pc for years its just to hard not to compare them and being frustrated by the aim or the poor AI or auto aim or other things...

The action/fps games I have had most fun with is where I was more into the story, environments rather then the actual basics... Of course you will get better at it but you will never ever be close.

So I wouldn´t buy a console to play this type of games really. Though titles like Assassins Creed, Mirrors Edge probably there is of course somes where acrobatics is more important then aim. Those unless you have a modern computer you will probably not feel very handicapped buy a console.

As for Wii okay it´s not as precise as a mouse/keyboard but the aiming is tons better and it´s much more immersive :)

I used to feel the same way when I had to get used to a controller. It's really frustrating going from a hardcore PC gamer to console. But you just have to get used to a controller and don't expect to be as accurate as a kbm. I prefer to play console games now because computer upgrades just got too expensive and annoying for me.

No it doesn´t take time... You can run with a gamepad for your entire life and not being competitive with the best mouse jockeys in fps games where aim is actually important. It´s impossible and those who say otherwise are wrong. It´s says itself. You can run some fps games with gamepad so you can test it that way. I just want to stress this a gamepad DOESN´T have the same precision and will never have in it´s current shape. The Wii remote is way better but have it´s own quirks

You can get used to it to some degree but then why run poorer versions of fear, bioshock, R6 Vegas, call of duty 4 etc? If Halo 3 is the best exclusive fps on the 360 it´s miles away from top 10 on the PC by my book :).

Not everyone has the luxury of computer upgrades, that's why. But Halo 3 does suck the monkey's balls.

The really good Halo players mostly aim by strafing and rely on the auto-aim while trying to get their BR bursts in as fast as possible (it's basically a DPS game at that level), even they know the analog aiming stick is not that great. The only reason they can get away with this behavior is because Halo and most console shooters don't penalize your accuracy while moving. Try pulling that shit in CS and you'll get nowhere.

One of my good friends is MLG Halo 3 (he's is fucking insane, plays with the top clans in the US, with wireless!), but when he plays CS:S on my PC he is completely spastic and out of control, he just can't process how motion affects bullet spread, tries to aim by strafing and can't hit shit.
