I have an old Compaq that has a dead IDE and I think the 2nd is crapping also.

If I get a controller card and put it in, can I ...

A) boot to the drive on the card? (have none connected directly to the mobo)

B) Install an OS to a drive on the card? (Remember, no drive connected to the board itself)

C) Which would be better, a 100 or 166? (this box is not going to do anything major, mainly host my pics and fold)
