continually shocked when I touch my mouse

It appears that my chair which I have used for years creates too much static electricity when I use it. I'm constantly shocked when I touch my mouse which is really annoying.

has anyone else had this problem? anyone find a good chair replacement that eleminates this?
 
Wow um...that's VERY bad if it generates that much static that it shocks you. I've *never* heard of that happen unless you're wearing a sweater, a coat, and maybe a winter hat, indoors, in your room :p
Chairs should be 'grounded' properly, as in having some metal part (usually the wheels) touching the ground.

You can eliminate this issue as a temporary-fix by getting a wrist-strap and attacking it to your (hopefully metallic) case. Otherwise yeah get a new chair. ASAP.

If you touch the wrong thing you risk messing up a lot of electronics in your home, not just your mouse. I'm surprised it hasn't died on you yet, but they're pretty well-shielded.
