Anybody playing this? I bought it yesterday but have yet to actually play it beyond the intro. It sounds pretty cool to me, but I've got a million games to play right now so I might just hang on to this one for now.
 
I beat it last night. It's an awesome game, I really enjoyed the ending. There are so many sidequests and secrets though I'm sure I'll keep playing. Not to mention there are super-bosses after you've beaten it.
 
I need to pick this game up, but I'm not sure if I will have the time to play it. So much stuff is coming out soon, it's ridiculous.
 
Awesome game.. I felt there was a drought in good DS titles for a while..

Now with 2 console releases.. and more AAA titles you can count..



It's gonna be an expensive but fun holiday season :D
 
Oh man was this game pissing me off today. I'm on the third island, where you meet the dude and his dog, and it took me like half an hour to get to the dude's house.

First attempt: dog got lost. go back to campfire, dog is there, won't follow. reset.

Second attempt: die. wake up, dog won't follow. reset.

Third time: old man gets lost. go back to campfire, man is there, won't follow. reset.

Finally got it on the fourth time :rolleyes:

I think the game is cool and fun for the most part, but some things about it are really frustrating. The NPC pathfinding is atrocious - it takes 3 times as long to move through an area with an NPC than by yourself, because you have to constantly backtrack to change your route, and push things out of the way.

Anyways, I actually really like this game, I'm just annoyed with it atm :p
 
the game mechanic sometime sucks ... but ive worked my way around and found myself enjoying it. im right now on the fourth island and pushing forward in the pyramid

do not give up slart , its pretty good where i am right now, but some of the ''puzzle'' can be annoying...


just use gamefaqs from time to time
 
I dunno, is it just me or is this game really hard? Maybe I just suck at this, but I am on the third island and have been for a few hours, because I keep dying and having to do it all again. My pattern of gameplay goes like this:

1.) Spend about an hour killing stuff, "leveling" and getting money to buy potions.
2.) Push forward into the game a while.
3.) Die.
4.) Restart game (so I still have my potions), spend more time killing stuff.
5.) Push forward a little bit more, usually to the next boss.
6.) Die.
7.) Rinse and repeat.

I also hate how anything can kill you, because once you have two or three things hitting you, your dude just never attacks back. This game would be much better as an action rpg.
 
totally agree with you , this game would have been better like say... children of mana ? :D

you need to control your aggro , and if many people attack you , you just use a special attack and rape one out of your way.

A good way to make money in this game ... kill the dude a the weapon stand in aegis ... he give you great weapon wich you can sell to him when he spawn back!

ill play more tonight , but right now im at work and i have children of mana :D
 
i still dont have the fishing clothes... my guess is its the guy fishing on fort eagle island that will give it to you if you help him find worms or something to fish

6-(Fisher King) Go to Aegis's 2nd pyramid(the one where you place the emblem).
Inside the 2nd room AFTER placing the emblem, there is a hidden passage in one
of the walls. In a chest in the passage, there is a big worm. Next, go to
Ft. Eagle and in one screen, there is someone trying to catch a huge fish.
All they need is bait, which you just got. Give it to them and they will
"catch" the fish, but it eats them and spits out their clothes. Grab them to
get the Fisher King costume.
 
Ok, I am seriously fed up with this game. I'm stuck on that part right after you meet Mint, and you have to kill that machine whatever, but you can only attack when a.) there's no guys on the screen, and b.) the attack button is locked out, ie, you hit it once every 10 minutes. I've tried it several times, and I always die because it's so boring and frustrating that I just stop paying attention. It only takes me two hits to kill a guy, but between the "always take damage" mode, the "can't use weapon" mode, and being attacked, my dude actually makes an attack like once a minute. I swear nobody playtested this boss.

I usually have a rule against trading games in, because you get ripped off, but I think I'm going to make an exception for this thing.

It's too bad, too. I really enjoyed this game for a while: it's an interesting, entertaining concept, but the gameplay just plain bites.
 
you need to touch the + and - to switch tv channel to distract the scientist on the top screen ... its pretty easy when you figure it out

Anyways, I've calmed down and am enjoying the game again :eek:

Does anybody know, with the stone statue pieces, can you get them all your first time through Aegis? I'm done with the island but never found all the pieces, just need one more. I also have yet to get into that pyramid you need the deed for.
 
youre not an idiot , i had to read a FAQ to figure it out. the game doesnt give you a clue you can interact with element IN the game... yeah you can control the little guy but thats all..

there is a vendor on the right of the big pyramid ( if i remember well) that says the first time you talk to him that he doesnt have nothing to sell... well go back see him , he has the deed wich cost 10000...

if you need money keep killing the weapon vendor , he gives 300-400 weapon 90% of the time!

we could try a online meeting sometime slart... i wonder how it is and if its interesting

Well, I "beat" the game last night. I have a question though (no spoilers here): at the end after the credits, when it's just showing the professor's ship on the bottom screen, is there anything after that? I ask because there didn't seem to be, so I turned off the system. When I go to reload the game, it puts me at the last save point in the last island, even though it "saved" after beating the boss. Did I mess anything up?

I'm also surprised as to how much there is in the game, but how short it is. I beat it in under 11 hours, and I never even got the shadow thief clothes, never really fished and only sporadically cooked.
 
i know you can get a girlfriend... but how i dont know.... and the shadow thief clothes... i wonder where are they... lets gamefaqs again...

8-(Shadow Thief) In the same place as number 6, there is a room with coffins &
other enemies. Go into the room on the right. Go look in the room and there
will be a secret passage. There is a grave in there and go behind it to find
another path. Keep heading south till you exit the pyramid. You should see
a weird flying bird thing, then hit it(on your touch screen)
it will drop a map that opens Bamboo Island. Go there and finish the mini-
quest for the island, and you will get the Shadow Thief costume. For the first
part, go to caldoaxa ruins. In the ruins, go right when you enter and go up
until you see a guy blocking a door. Kill him and follow the path to the end
and you will see two bugs glowing blue. STAY AWAY FROM THESE AT ALL COSTS!!!
They are EXTREMELY strong. On the left of that room, there is a spice cabinet.
Inside it are cloves. Take them back to the old man. For 2nd part give letter
to the lady in Aegis that doesn't want you talking with her daughter.
 
Yeah I had checked out gamefaqs for the shadow thief stuff.

For the girlfriend, I know there is a girl at Ft. Eagle who wants you to give her bugs and she hits on you.

I was just playing a little bit and I think it may have kept the save from beating the game, because now I have this awesome sword I didn't have previously.
 
i find that this game is a lot about exploration... trial and error ... you really need to check everything ... there is nothing obvious

i really dig this game so far... but will i keep playing it when i beat it... not sure

Yeah I haven't gone back and explored too much, but after you finish Fort Eagle a lot of people show up in various places. I know I missed a bunch of items and such - only have like 5 recipes, am missing a blue eyes volume, etc. Honestly I spent most of the game killing stuff for money and buying potions. I went into the last dungeon with like 35 potions and used them all.
 
just finished it... good game but the localisation of the game was made quickly... the dialogue are poor...
 
Yeah the dialogue isn't the best, some of the jokes/references are amusing though. Did you ever get the UFO decal? According to the FAQ you get it after seeing the UFO at grandpa's grave. I've seen the UFO a million times but nothing happens after that.
 
no i dont have that decal... didnt play much of contact after finishing it...

now im into children of mana
