Are there any drives targeted towards consumers that would actually saturate 10Gb/s? I just saw that the Maximus VII has the expansion slot for M.2 and it doesn't seem to make any sense for that to be included. I figured it would stay exclusive for the X99 platform until drives of that speed became more available. I could also be entirely misinformed.

Considering Marvell just announced a 4GB/s controller about 2 weeks ago, I really doubt 10GB/s is close to being on the market.

I'm more excited about what NVMe brings in terms of reduced overhead than I am higher sequential throughput.

It's 10Gb/s not GB. Or 1GB/s.
