Consolidating Wireless networks

Hey I have a few questions about setting up a few wireless networks. I live in an area where my house and a few of my friends share the same back yard. The houses themselves are roughly one hundred and fifty feet away from each other.

With that said, we each have our own wireless network, and we want to be able to connect to each others. I understand that it might be simpler and more expensive to setup a series of bridges, or just replace the antennas on the routers, but assuming we didnt want to go that route, would what i'm proposing work, as at least a temporary solution.

(this is just for me to be able to connect, i'm not worried about them connecting to my network yet)

I was going to buy two of these antennas

and these two pci wireless adapaters (EDIMAX EW-7128G)

Then I was going to put them both in the same PC, and place the antennas in my back yard, and connect each one to a different wireless network, and then hard wire (cat5) to my network.

So the main questions I have are, will using an increased gain antenna work, assuming my main intent is just to copy files from their networks?

And of course, what do you think of my product selection?

Oh come on now, I know someone knows the answer to this. I don't know too much about this bit of wireless networking..

Why would you want to connect to your friends wireless when you have your own?

Here is a solution that Businesses do. Hope you have a couple hundred thousand dollars.

By 62.5 Micron Fiber and run a Background to each house (Campus). At each house (Campus) have a TR room for your equipment and run Cat 6 horizontals through out the house (Campus).

You could have that one machine connected to all 3 networks and it could access files off each by ip address. Really you need all 3 to have different ip ranges or it will cause some issues.

IE

Network 1
192.168.0.x
Network 2
192.168.1.x
Network 3
192.168.5.x

Etc.

What you're saying sounds good. I don't know the products you linked though.

Instead of connecting to two different networks, work with your buddies to all have the same wireless network so that no matter where you go you will be on the same network.

I guess it all depends on what you want to do. So... what do you want to do? Share files? Play games? Have a backup way out to the Internet? Let us know so that we can better help you.
