I have a bunch of Cisco gear coming in a couple days, and have yet to figure out a solution besides cable hopping. Once the original config is done on the gear, everything can be connected to via SSH correct? I'd like to get a 2511 or 2509 but the high cost prove otherwise. And a NM-16A card is just as bad.

For the record I have coming:

3550
2950
2620XM (3)

Already have

2900XL

If this is for a learning lab don't waste money on console servers.
Just serial in and "cable hop" when you need to.

Yes this is for a home lab. I just wasn't sure if you can telnet or ssh into a device through the network that you arent directly connected to. Connected to the device that is.

Holy crap, thanks for pointing out the high cost of 2511, I have a pair of them at home collecting dust, I didn't figure they were worth more than $20, now they're going up on ebay!

Once you get into them you can set an IP on them and then just telnet or ssh into them yes.
