Console differences

You guys are right. I know that even a low to mid range video card will give you very good performance, especially if you are running at resolutions below 1600x1200 with AA off.
The point I was trying to make was for Joe Bloggs looking to buy a machine for gaming buying a console compare to buying a PC is a lot easier and cheaper.
For example -

The average price for an entry Dual Core PC in the UK is £300 (without monitor).
512mb Geforce 8600GT which is around £70.
Total £370

Cheapest 40gb PS3 bundle - £310
Cheapest 360 arcade bundle - £180
Cheapest 360 Elite bundle - £280

Even the cheapest PC with entry level specs and entry level graphics card costs £60 more than a PS3 bundle. If you then factor in ease of use and reliability, no wonder consoles are the gaming platform that Joe Public will tend to go for.
You don't have to worry about viruses, spam, BSOD, drivers etc etc with a console.

But for people with a bit of technical knowledge the PC is a wonderful gaming platform. Always upgradable, versatile, moddable games, huge mature online community.
For me, as gamer, I would always have a high end PC AND at least one console. That way you can have the best of both worlds.

Well ideal would be if all games were ported to all platforms :)

But yeah for now it seems only good solution if you love games (altrough I think it's hardest to be RPG fan becouse they form majority of exclusive big seller titles and rpg player needs more platforms than Joe the avarage FPS lover)

Tell me about it!! Imagine how lovely a PC version of Gran Turismo would look. PD have always said they would like to do a PC version but Sony said "HELL NO".
If games were released across all platforms surely that means alot more sales, hence more profit, hence more money available to make more games. Its a win win situation.

7) I am a big racing game fan, and most of the best racing games are on 360.

I hope that helps.

If your such a big fan of racing games why are you gaming a console :p all the best racing sims are on the pc. nothing touches GTR2, rfactor and LFS and those games don't require a £400 card to play them either. unless your into arcadie racing games then yea teh 360 has the betetr racing games but for sims? LOL :D:D:D

I used to play racing games on the PC with my MS Sidewinder Force feedback wheel (anyone remember those wheels). My fav game was Geoff Crammond Grand Prix 4. I would do all practice and qualifying sessions and full length race and loved every minute of it. I would spend hours perfecting the setup of the car for each circuit, checking telemetry etc.
That was all before I got married and had two kids :D

It is impossible to get necessary peace and quiet to concentrate on a hardcore racing sim when you have a chatterbox for a wife and two lively kids under 4yrs old :D
Not that I am complain though.
Thats why I tend to play console based racing games because of the pick up and play factor. I do own the MS 360 wheel, which is very nice and works great with Forza 2 or Gotham 4 but it is a pain to have to connect it all and then disconnect it when I finish.
I would LOVE to get a proper racing seat, the ones with the stand for the wheel and foot rest for paddles but I think my wife would have something so say about me spending £200 for a racing seat :D
Oh the joys of being an adult gamer.
