This weekend, I decided to purchase COD:BO for the PC, even though I have been playing it on the 360 since its release.

My first impressions of the PC version of COD:BO (multiplayer) is that it is horrible. I couldn't believe the difference between the 360 version vs the PC version. For starters the multiplayer portion is nearly unplayable. I originally though it was the rig I was playing it on (HDX dragon) but I tried my main rig and the experience was the same.

The lag/stutters/slowdown are unbelievable. I would say that, at times, it is almost unplayable. Example: Running into a room, after throwing a flash bang, only to have the game hitch causing me to end up facing a corner, where I am quickly killed.

I have also noticed some very frustrating, and sometimes random, mouse acceleration issues. The only reason I purchased this for the PC is I thought the mouse+keyboard combination would be more accurate ... boy was I wrong. Just to experiment I plugged in my 360 controller and I ended up doing much better using it, than I did using the mouse keyboard. Granted I am use to playing BO with a controller.

Is this typical of BO or am I just noticing these problems because I have been playing it on the 360?

There are tweak guides floating around for Black Ops on PC. Check em out, they might be helpful for you.

I have some short freezes every now and then myself. Rather rare but annoying enough to tire me out.

It is pretty typical of the PC experience right now. The first couple of patches made it worse for people who didn't have any problems etc. It is not your computer, it is the game's coding. All we can really do is make it bearable until they get all the glitches out of it. Don;t hold your breath though.

For me it was serious sound stuttering. I found a couple fixes that made MP playable. I still have yet to complete single player as it is unplayable. Do a search on the steam forums for a plethora of threads.

If you disable your sound completely, many people say it runs great but hardly an immersive gaming experience.

if the rig in the sig is what you are using then you might need a quadcore. Have a few friends that upgraded and its working much better for them. I know you shouldn't "have" to upgrade for a game but you gotta admit c2d is pretty old now especially a dual core one.

BlackOps runs smooth as silk on the PC for me. I think it depends on what setup you have, from what I heard, AMD/ATI rigs seem to handle it really well with its drivers.

It's not bad on PC but its still more fit for a console game right now.

PC players are having problems across the board. I could not play it at all at release. After the second patch it was fine, though now after a few more patches it's again quite slow and laggy. The excuse Treyarch are dishing out is that they have to make a fix for every conceivable hardware configuration. At least that's what they're trying to convince the people of what they have to do, and using this to buy time. Obviously this isn't the case, and any time they *fix* something they break something else.

Black Ops runs like absolute butter on my rig. I hear its CPU happy, so it could be my X6 making the difference. I don't have a dual core like yours to try it on, but I hear that's where the issues stem from.

coming from a cod player since the original playing in cal, and multiple other leagues in cod, tf2, and cs cod has really gone down hill after cod2, cod4 mw was decent good enough to scrim and compete in, world at war i didnt even waste my money, mw2 i bought because i was bored played online (this is after a few months its been out) wtf is with matchmaking rather then dedicated servers for pc its horrible, and the pubs are terrible theres always some max level scrub who thinks hes amazing so when a lvl 1 noobie (thatd be me who has competed for years against some top teams) outplays him he automatically assume hacks, i guess thats the biggest reason you'll rarely find me in a pub due to the bads who dont really understand what sounds do and how to actually shoot.

one more thing i was pretty excited for black ops for the single player, same with Moh2010 which i played in the beta and loved it, then i read the reviews (havent downloaded it yet, i come back to the states in a couple days) and i hear its short and easy no tactics need to be used, very boring imo looking forward to beating it in a couple hours and moving on.

another dual core user. Just proving my point from above.

there is no need for a quad core to play black ops, its definetly the game theyll need some patches for it to fix the bugs, itll be playable in about a month i have yet to try it out but ill run it on my laptop and my desktop and try it out when i get home.

the game was unplayable for me on my dual core. luckily i was in the middle of building my quad core rig and it runs like butter now.

My overclocked i7 920 ran the game completely smooth from day one. The only thing that was ever laggy for me was the ending kill cam. I have no idea if they fixed this yet since I haven't played since a week after it came out though. After reading a bunch of these threads I generally seem to see the same thing. It seems like most of the people with problems are dual core users.

It sucks that this happened to you. I swear playing on the PC is a lot more fun them the 360 IMO. I had Modern Warfare and MW2 for 360 and now that I've played Black Ops on the PC I don't think I could ever play a FPS on a console again. I always used to do my gaming on the PC and now I kinda regret switching to console for a bit.

The game is working perfectly for me. It was a little rough at first but the patches all helped out quite a bit.
