My current gaming system is the i5 @ 4.5 ghz with 7950 (running at 7970 spec) as shown in my signature. Maxing out BF4 with 200% resolution scale at 4x AA gets me about 20 fps. Will a GTX 780 give me more playable frame rates? If not what kind of setup do i need? I'm generally happy with about 40 fps (don't really need 60). Game runs butter smooth with 170 resolution scale and no AA but doesn't quite look good enough. I run games at 1920x1080

why are you using 200% resolution scale. a single HD 7950 overclocked can handle BF4 at ultra 4x msaa. for more gpu power consider R9 290. launches on nov 5th at USD 450. for BF4 its either that or R9 290X. Mantle is another important reason to choose R9 290 over GTX 780, especially if BF4 is important to you

Raghu, sorry but I have to ask this. Are AMD paying you to push their products to people on forums (here, OCN etc.)? Because if not they should be.

What did he say that was incorrect?

Adding another 7950 is your cheapest way to get a boost. Two 7950 is about 15% faster than a 290X.

The reason why I run at 200% resolution scaling is because the graphics look amazing that way. I'm more of a hardware enthusiast and I enjoy running around looking at the pretty graphics while casually enjoying the game. I also build a lot of computers under contract so its always good for me to be able to demonstrate PC performance as well.

I didn't consider doing the crossfire but that would definitely be the easiest way for me (not having to sell existing card). Does BF4 scale well under crossfire? I noticed BF4 maxes out the 3 GB of video RAM i have.... wont it just keep bottlenecking? Do i need a 4gb card?

There's no bottlenecking going on, it's not using 3GB VRAM, it's just allocating it for use (i.e. it's there if needed and the more you have the more it makes available up to a point). How much is it actually showing as being used? I'm guessing it is below 3000MB.

Memory usage (dynamic) maxed out at only 540 mb in gpu-z which sounds way below what it would actually be but then again I'm not sure. GPU load was topping out at 100% the whole time though. AA and Resolution Scaling (supersampling) is what is killing frame rates.
