Considering eyefinity, what do I need?

So here's the deal - I have 2 6950 HIS AMD cards in crossfire right now and want to know what I need to get Eyefinity rocking on this over 3 monitors.

Here's my specific questions:

  1. Is it possible to use eyefinity on 3 monitors using 2 DVI and 1 displayport with an active display cable? Or is that all or nothing?
  2. If I have 3 monitors that takes the display port interface, do I still need an active display cable in between them and the card or can I just go directly in?
  3. I heard all monitors need to go into the first card - is this true? I want to know in case I ever decide I want to add more monitors to the setup.

1. Yes, as far as I know they must all be connected to the same card.
2. The active display cable you're referring to is for DP-> DVI. Because your LCD has DP in, you don't need the adapter.
3. Yes.

Do you already have your LCDs?
Be prepared to do a little legwork to get all your games working properly with the FoV.

If you spend most time with RPG/racing/ FPS, then Eyefinity is great.
However, it doesn't work well with RTS & other games that don't benefit (Dungeon Defenders, Diablo 3, Path of Exile, hack & slash games). If I were to do it again, I'd skip the Eyefinity and get a 30" LCD at 2560x1600.
