My rig is in sig. I was just wondering if my CPU is going to bottleneck the card at all? My power supply should be sufficient. I'm currently running at 1680x1050, but I do have a spare 22" monitor and if need be I could triple monitor it.

I know my mobo only has pci-e 1.1, and that it will automatically bottleneck the card (but AFAIK it shouldn't be very much, maybe 3-5%?).

So what I'm wondering is for anyone who owns the card, will my rig be bottlenecking the card?

Thanks ;).

No worries, but at that resolution a 5870 is some serious overkill. You could save almost $100 by getting a 5850 instead.

Overkill???
1 monitor at 1680*1050 yes overkill

3 monitors total at 5040*1050 ??? NO way!!!!
may even be underpower.

Alright thanks, heh I might triple monitor if need be! Now time to wait for a decent price on the card... :p

I'm loving my manually overclocked HD 5870. I'm running 1030|1300 and pushing a 1920x1200 monitor with it. I was happy to dump multi-gpu.

Very pleased with my Sapphire 5870, glad to be back with ATI.

I just went from a BFG 275's in SLI to a Sapphire 5870 single gpu solution. I am usually an nvidia fan, but if ATI makes a good product, then I will def jump ship. Love my 5870 so far...seems that the bugs that are still in SLI sometimes get annoying. Not bashing Nvidia, but ATI has crossfire issues as well....
