There have been some great sub-$800 deals on Dell's monster 24" offering lately, the 2407wfp. I'm interested in getting a larger monitor for my graphics work. I've heard these have banding issues though...is that true? Anything else I should be aware of?

Horizontal banding issues are fixed in the Rev. A02. Vertical banding exists only on the darker shades of colors on my 2407 (picked it up last week). It's a fantastic monitor.

So I should end up with an A02 if I order today?

I got my 2407wfp a week ago or so, and I got an A02 with no stuck/dead pixels or backlight bleed. I ordered from costco because of their local and liberal return policy. I decided to keep it inspite of it's few problems since I don't ever notice them in normal use. The only major gripe I have is that with calibrated colors 42% brightness is the lowest you can go without losing the last shade of black in test patterns. 29% is the lowest I could go without losing the next shade, so I stuck with 29%. At 29% I'm coming in at ~185 cd/m^2 which is too bright in my opinion but liveable. I prefer 150 cd/m^2 or less with less black crush, but owell.

By comparison the hp l2335 that I owned for about a 1.5 months was definitely the better monitor during all but dark images where bleeding occurs. The backlight was much more uniform, but it had pretty bad bleeding and a stuck pixel (I think that some people confuse bleeding an uniformity as the same thing). However, the difference in brightness on the right and left halves of the screen was much much less noticeable. But this difference in brightness in a limitation of ws lcd tech so I can get over it. In the end I was in awe of the image the l2335 produced in situations that favored it, and I just find the 2407wfp image to be good-great especially for the price until led backlights become the standard.

Thanks for the great review! I think I'll stick with my 2005fpw until I can get an Eizo ColorEdge CE240W :)
