Well. I just had a chance to confirm. On my set up with 5x1 eyefinity and crossfire 295's, the drivers are utterly broken.

Single display works perfectly smooth. However, once you enable eyefinity the monitors exhibit some horrible syncing issues in games.

Imagine the screen tearing without vsync, but simultaneously across all 5 screens and it looks like a part of the frame takes much noticeably longer to refresh, making everything pretty much unplayable.

I though for a moment there could be a connection issue. Since 4 monitors are connected with DP and 1 is DVI DL, but leaving only 3 monitors in eyefinity with DP connections doesn't solve the problem.

Single 295x2 in eyefinity 5x1 works fine and one display with 295x2 crossfire works fine.

Well, new 14.6 drivers are out and eyefinity with 295x2 crossfire is still broken. Pretty disappointed at the moment. The second card has to be disabled in order to get rid of the tearing.

Also, disabling ULPS doesnt do a darn thing for this configuartion.

Here are two quick vids I took this morning with the new drivers, but 14.4 performance was the same.

At this point, I've submitted a few bug reports and also tweeted the videos to amd. No response so far.

I understand that this setup may have a very limited appeal, but someone out there is bound to run into the same issues, so I'd be very glad to know about this before making this big of a purchase.

Wow that really sucks. I know that AMD dude is in the 14.6 driver thread. You may want to send him a PM.

I wonder if it's a portrait timing issue. I know you aren't planning on using it this way, but have you tried with all 5 monitors in landscape?

i doubt it, others have done 5x in portrait with no problems with other cards.

You just cant mix them yet.

There may be something to that. I'll try it out after work. I also heard that it may work in win 7. I'm running win 8.1 So it's worth exploring as well.

Wow that really sucks OP..I am sorry to see someone that spend over $9K on hardware (or more!!) not be able to experience the utter bliss they deserve!!:(:(

I am hoping this is just a driver issue, since the single 295X2 works, and that AMD can get this fixed up for you. I am glad you tested this on the X79 platform, since my first thought was PCI-E bandwidth issues. While that could be the case, I would highly doubt it, and I think AMD would have slapped a disclaimer on using the 295X2's in QF..

If it makes you feel any better, that setup looks totally friggin sick man! That rig also puts you in the .05% here at [H]ard, which is saying something!

PS, since I noticed you are playing BF4, are you using MANTLE as the rendering API? If so, does DirectX11 have the same issue? I am sure you have already tried that but it's worth a shot.

Thanks for the compliments! :D

I actually only tried dx11 in BF4. I haven't had much success with mantle and infinity, but it's worth trying later.

I was able to come up with a fix for a handful of titles. I modified the 13.12 whql driver to support the 295x2 and it works ok. However, because it's such an old driver, only a few games work without issues. New titles are not supported. (BF4 and Titanfall are my primary games and they work ok)

If anyone is in the same boat, I can share the driver.

In the meantime, amd says that they may have a fix by the end of the year, but I'm not holding my breath.

AMD definitely needs to do some driver work looks like. I hope they get it fixed soon.
