.. and just in case XS forums crash again...

most benchmark results of AM2 system is funny.

since I couldn't post screenshots ( maybe cause trouble with AMD )
I can only tell in words:

cpu @ 225*12=2700mhz (multiplier cannot be changed in the bios)
AMD's Stock cooler , vcore=1.32v~1.36v varies
ram @ 333mhz 5-5-5-5-15 1T 1GB*2 dualchannel
mobo = nv C51G
OS=xpsp2 with patch + nv 8.252 drivers

pi_1m=39.8sec(conroe 2.4G=21.25sec)
pcmark05 cputest=5510(conroe 2.4G=6101)
3dmark03 cputest=1073(conroe 2.4G=1413)
3Dmark05 cputest=5582(conroe 2.4G=8320)
scienmark2.0=1454(conroe 2.4G=1310)
pi_fast=46.03/58.44(conroe 2.4G=32.55/40.41)
sisoft alu=24220/11022
sisoft multi=51287/55489
sisoft mem=6919/6826
sisoft cache=7432

conroe ftw :)

Well, either way you look at theese scores, they are all done on way-pre-production mobos, with half-assed BIOS, and ES CPU's... ;)
Victor was however able to o/c AM2 a little bit... :)

Now it (scienmark2.0=1454(conroe 2.4G=1310) will become the most import benchmark in teh world, LOL!

know why? it uses the FPU a bit. ;)

hey great, why dont we wait for a processor designed to take advantage of the AM2. you boys benchmarking a cpu against a socket is pretty stupid.

Man! When you going to quit crying? Stay in the AMD forums. It hurts me to see you in such pain!

The SuperPi AMD score seems funny to me. The mod 1.4/1.5 versions give me ~35s on my X2 3800+ @ 2.5GHz (1GHz HT, 212MHz memory @ CL2.5). A 2.7GHz A64 or X2 1MB L2 chip should get 31s or so. Even the slower RAM timings shouldn't have made that much of a difference.

I have no doubt that Conroe will crush faster X2/FX-6x CPUs, but final performance numbers for both Conroe and AM2 aren't really known yet. In 2 months things should be a lot clearer.

I am really tempted at switching over to Intel after 7 years with AMD, though AMD > Intel in my opinion as a company

you could say the same thing about a motherboard and conroe

my 2 year stay in AMD country was short and sweet :p

hah.. ok. :D

is that why i constantly give credit to conroe? its ppl like you that do not quite look intelligent.

and why are you acting like you have won something? :confused:

wait that mean you have been with AMD when the Pentium 4 was running circles around the old Athlons, and you want to switch now with the conroe's IMO you had more reason performance wise to switch then than now.

I agree, should be 31 or less.

could someone explain what these number mean? I am a picture type guy.(what is the conroe figures like) are these AM2 figures good, bad or promising(ahahahah an Intel forum will never use the those words with AMD in the same sentence)?

very bad ;)

So:

We have a 2.4GHz non Overclocked Conroe, and a 2.7GHz majorly overclocked Athlon X2.

We have a Conroe runs at 60 Watts max? And an Athlon X2 that runs at what, 110 Watts max?

Correct me if I am wrong, but the Athlon X2 is being strained whereas the Conroe is like an icecube running on barely any power and at a much lower clock speed.

Watts and Heat disappation can be spun as they like. But you last statement is almost dead on.
