i've heard conroe is the way to go so can anyone post a good core duo CPU and MoBo that will perform really well for no more than 400 total? thanks
 
Its a toss up really. An E6300 ($180) + Asus P5B Del ($220) fits right in at $400.

A E6400 ($220) + Gigabyte DS3 ($150) is also pretty close and a little cheaper. I think you'll get about the same clocks on both.
