I am probably one of the many that are jumping on the Conroe wagon in the next couple of months. I want to go SFF but am a little clueless about them and intel stuff.

What would be a good chassis and MB for conroe with a highend video card and a SB X-Fi?

The only things I am staying away from are nVidia and DFI products due to the past nF3 and 6800 GT problem with DX9 that did not get fixed for about a year. All other companies are ok with me.

there are TONS of threads about matx cases and a DEDICATED threat about conroe matx boards.
 
Well, I'm in the same boat, I'm building a conroe mATX rig for college. I'm going to use a Microfly case, but there really isn't too much info on the boards that will be available yet. I think we are just gonna have to wait that one out.
 
we dont yet know what many of the q965 matx boards will look like so we cant be sure of slot configs. i DO know we will see them by august. its safe to assume that at least one or two manu's will have 2 available pci slots

Anandtech actually recently had a report on some of the more interesting motherboards they looked at at Computex, and a number of them were Conroe-supporting mATX boards, including at least one Q965 board.

Gigabyte GA-965QM-S2

Has the ICH8 chipset too.
