Since the thread that I posted this in was locked :rolleyes: I figured I would start a new thread. My goal here is to stop the misinformation and get the truth out about Conroe pricing. Let's try to not turn this into a debate about who is charging what... but rather what the Cost and MSRP is. The only pricing I have seen is cost from Intel in 1000 units... yet people have been "alluding" to MSRP. So... If anybody can provide some data on MSRP I would appreciate it. Thanks.
 
Another thing about the pricing in general , i remember when there wer these prices set fromintel that from this date the D or the core 2 duo will be this price and its nearly been a month since them dates and i have not seen anything like that , what happened to the so called prices going down?

This is the most current price list from Intel... probably what you are referring to.

This reflects the cost that the retailer pays when ordering 1000+ units. Now... I would imagine that it's up to the retailer to lower it's pricing accordingly... if they see fit to do so. This would probably be driven by demand or lack of as the case may be. Did you have a different list in mind?
 
Pricewatch prices have usually been close to those prices listed as the 1000 unit prices. B/c most vendors get other discounts on top of that 1000 unit pricing, etc... Then Etailers have lower overhead that Brick & Mortar stores so their prices are usually quite low. If you go in to a B&M store prices are usually a little higher.

Thats assuming availability is plentiful and websites are competing on price, not availibility.

People have just historically called 1000 unit price, MSRP b/c often the Etail price is close to it. (not always as low, but usually very CLOSE)

Agreed. Almost always the same within the first month of launch.
 
yeah, I just checked <online store> and my jaw dropped about 4 feet seeing the prices. I was offline since August 1st, so I did not get to see the mayhem that ensued last monday.
