Conroe power consumption Question...

I know conroe eat little watts compared to previous generation of processors...

But what about when it's overclocked? Can anyone tell me how much an 6300 overclocked to 3.2ghz with a voltage of 1.45volts eat up?
 
I can't tell you exactly, but since you're around the C2E's speed, along with the voltage, I'd put you near the 75W of the Core 2 Extreme.

Remember, wattage goes up linearly with clock rate, and exponentially with voltage (did a statistics course project on it a while back, it's indeed true).

What??? That seems awfully little... Non overclocked conroe eat up 65watts @ 1.2 volts... So you're telling me @ 3.2 ghz 1.45 volts only eat up 75 watts?

As you can see 6700 eats 19 watts less than 6800... But eat it's up 3 wattage more than 6300... Strange??? Does the 6800 xtreme have more voltage @ stock?
 
Thermal curves for processors aren't necessarily linear though. As you noticed the Athlon FX 62 is quite a bit hotter then the lower counterparts. As well it's not the cache, cache is typically the lower power stuff on a processor die.

There is likely a point where thermals start to rise faster beyond a certain point.
