Terra is the most unbiased fan-boy-hater on these forums.

haha no, I was saying that to Serge84....his posts were deleted.

I admit im a bit of an intel fan, but I wouldn't ever bash on AMD for anything. I've owned intel's and AMD's all the same. :)

Then IMHO, many of US use the term Fan wayyyyy to lightly or easily. You might be a little Intel Biased, but you're not a Fan IMHO. You'd not touch an AMD processsor and then you'd bash them every chance you had. That's what Fans do.

One thing that has been on my mind a lot about conroe.

WHY July ?

Will they flood the market so we don't see price scaplers like we did with the opty?
Is this the first date where they could get the chip and the mb's out at the same time?
Cant say they want to get rid of the chips they have now since they have already said they will continue to sell them.

Just wondered why they show something in January and then wait 6 months to sell it.

MAN I WISH IT WOULD GET HERE LOL

They've annouced a year, 9 months and etc.., 6 months is chart compared to when the Hammer was shown and then launched how much later? Lets see, Jan IDF and launched very small number, Opteron only, April the next year, ummm?

That doesnt really apply. K8 didnt have endorsed benches out until launch day. Though there were a few inaccurate leaks.

AMD showed it, but didn't do anything close to the assinine stuff that Intel has been doing for the last few months.

I didn't say anything about Benches. AMD has always used Intel systems during their Demos, don't you read the white papers at their sight.

The thing that was assinine is that AMD would show up across the street from an Intel event. Then have someone like Anand Call it the most exciteing thing at IDF. No, I think you got it backwards. AMD didn't demo against anything Intel had because it would have been bitchslapped without a working AGP. It was early A0 setting that was only running at 800MHz IIRC.

I didn't say anything about Intel systems? So how is that a point worth making?

Opinions vary I guess. Showing something, and faking something are two very different things.

AMD shows...
Intel fakes...

Good, I can feel your anger. I am unarmed. Take that Conroe. Strike me down with all of your hatred and your journey towards the dark side will be complete. Good. Use your aggressive feelings, boy. Let the hate flow through you. Your feeble chips are no match for the power of the Dark Side.

Sure you did! When you talked about how assinine it was when Intel did ya ya with an AMD system.

You really need to pull your head out, hehehehe!

Sounds like the crap Anand is posting now...make sure and check the AMD site called anand.

I quote
"The Intel overclocking enthusiasts can probably be happy short term by purchasing something like the AOpen i975Xa-YDG and Core Duo T2400. Unfortunately, that particular motherboard is rather expensive, and the Core Duo processors aren't cheap either. You basically end up matching the performance offered by AMD X2 overclocking at a higher price."

so the X2 will outperform the core, let me see the X2 is slower than the older style...in the reviews, core kicks the FX60...but it will be slower than the X2? Sure it was a 266 that beat the 60 but give me a break...what kind of logic can post crap like this?
Wonder how much AMD paid him to make these stupid statements?
and the only price we have here is how high the core is ...so are the X2's free???

less speed, less cach and higher price....so they are cheaper. STUPID ME
He must be using an AMD calculator.

MAN scratch that site off the list of unbiased and flag it BS.

Duby229,

Please post some links. Donnie posted some.....

Once again, the arguement you make is moot without evidence from a legitimate source.

Here is a link from Xtremesys:

Let me tell you, Coolaler must be some kind of super double tripple secret Intel Super Spy out to sabotage AMD with fake benchmarks.

Duby, let me ask you one question:

Why does it matter if Conroe is good or not? Honestly...will Intel having a better product this cycle profoundly effect your life? Will it cause you to lose lots of sleep? Seriously...why does it matter so much? Explain to me. If you like AMD and hate Intel, take yourself back to the AMD forums. Who gives a shisen if Intel is better or AMD is better? Buy what you want, and let others buy what they want. Do not lecture people on their purchasing decisions unless asked, its just plain rude.

Let's see
FreecableGuy
Coolater
VictorWang
Fugger

Are all lying and faking tests for Intel to discredit AMD. I just had the rest of that tooth pulled and it hurts when I laugh.

You should really beleive coolalar, if you pay attention to what he post you notice he is happing to post information. He is happy to try and push his hardware on air for us. He did alot of work, and when he did another bench he posted it almost in the next 5 mins. I mean seriously. He posted anything from yonah, to merom then conroe. I MEAN THE 05 RECORD WAS BEAT (and it was dominated by athlon x2's) with yonah for crying out loud, with a YONAH.

Donnie was that an upper or lower tooth?

Hope you are at work tomorrow, but either way call me.

The anand quote came from the post on his front page.
Yep those cheap X2 processors are kicking ass I guess.
I know that people will slam be but I feel the x2 's are just
reject opterons.

Coolater what does he say, the conroe won't oc?
So where do I read his info?
I am open to anyone that wants to post the truth.

Yes, he's at Extremesystems .org. Most of these guys has killer AMD rigs as well and they have ZERO reason to lie for Intel as was hinted at. Victor Wang compared his Conroe to HIS AMD system.

I still do. All the data out so far suggests that without doing an OC (I don't OC) to bump the bus, Conroe will only be a super performer when operating out of cache. When not running from cache, Conroe falls down to the levels of a normal, fast CPU.

My data sets are around 1.5GB+ (lots of random access), and a 4MB cache really isn't going to help all that much for my workload. My code runs much better with an IMC.

----

I think it comes down to workload like it always does. If you run smaller apps that mostly fit in cache or apps with mostly sequential memory access, the Conroe is probably going to be a beast.

If you run large apps with huge memory requirements or medium sized apps with random memory access, AMD will probably better suit your needs with their IMC.

I'm all about matching hardware with software requirements. After pouring over Conroe benchmarks for a while, it is pretty clear that Conroe is not the best chip for my workload.

I honestly hope that it works out to be a great desktop and OC chip for all of you, but I don't think it has all that much to offer me.

If any Conroe fans running 64-bit Linux want to call me out on this, bookmark the thread. Come back when you have your new Conroe system, and run my primary app in benchmark mode. If you can show that my app runs faster on a stock Conroe (two threads) than on the fastest Opteron at the time (two threads), not only will I switch to Conroe, but I'll write you a $50 check as well. (edit: first person only.)

This thread is just as bad as the one I linked to read it . Than ask yourself . What did I just read.

Here's another . After reading these 2 threads I truely do feel bad for these people. Their words show them to be neanderthals . To be honest I am surprised any of them can read.

Its threads like this one and the 2 I just linked to that should never make it past 3 responses before there locked.

This Duvie guy and a few others are without a doubt kids . Or its possiable that their just special education types in which case they may be excused. But these types of threads are at best nothing more than flamebait.

On the other hand I believe they have shown me just how childish it is to be a fan-boy. For that I owe these thread starters my graditude for helping me get over my own fan-boyism. Strange how things turn out.

Donnie you are as stubborn as I. I started this battle at ATF forums 2 years ago and now that its almost over and the day has been won. I reflect upon it and it was truely a useless battle. A lot of empty meaningless words spent on people who have problems with perception.

If I wasn't so old and really a hardware attic. I wouldn't waste my time on this rubbish . For you younger fella's . Get away from your PC'S live life. Time passes fast enjoy life embrace it. LIVE LIFE

It is truely NOT about battles or wars, or even right and wrong. It is about getting correct information out to folks looking for it. If it means getting correct info, I'd rather be wrong and corrected than patted on the back for supplying incorrect info.

It's not about trying to change Duby/Duvie, it's about those for who aren't sure either way and really never post. These folks shouldn't be misinformed by folks who don't know the difference between a FSB, BSB or a System Bus. Or not having a clue how how DMA, DMI and Buffers work as well.
