Lately I’ve been playing World of Warcraft and have noticed the hard drive is in use a lot. Since I’m upgrading my system all together I figured I would buy another hard drive to run the game files separately. Which should I run off the faster drive - the paging file or the game files? Also I have one IDE and one SATA hard drive. Does it matter where on the cable I put the IDE drive? I have seen some articles talking about how the wrong connector can give slower speeds? Another one said that having the jumper in anything but the cable select postiion will slow it down. Any answers will help, Thanks.

This one turns out to be a personal choice really, if you have lots of ram, it shouldn't matter too much. If you don't, just play with it till it "feels" faster.

General rule of thumb is put master on the end, slave in middle. I've heard of people putting master in teh middle but, from old school days can't bring myself to do it.

They are probably talking cable. You have 40 wire and 80 wire cables, the 80 wires are for the higher end ata speeds, I *believe* ata66 and up need 80 wire cables, I might be wrong on that though. Correct me if i'm wrong anyone. Basically If you put an ata 133 drive on a 40 wire cable, it will run at the fastest speed that 40 wire can run.

Might slow down boot time, I've never heard this one though. I usually just set them to master and slave anyway.
