Is it possible (or safe) to connect two USB "devices" using a square Type B to another square Type B?

Will it damage either device?

Or can you only safely connect a USB "host" Type A flat connector to a usb "device" Type B square connector?

Electrically, there's no difference; pinouts are the same. I think it's just "against" spec to do that type of thing, but someone out there probably makes a B <-> B cable, just like you can occasionally run across A <-> A cables.

I think they just intended for users to have the simple "host" and "peripheral" ends, but if you're doing something crazy, go for it.
