Hey I just got my new board back after sending the defective one back. Its a DFI Lanparty Pro875B Rev B. Well did the same thing installed the processor applied the same amount of thermal interface of the exact same stuff. My temps are now 56C underload when they used to be around 52C under load. Should I really be worried? Should I give it a week to see if temps go down after burn in? Or should I try and reapply the thermal interface? I'm not Ocing or anything and the temp reports are gotten by MBM. Thanks all.

there's all kinds of variables there.

thermal paste, board's accuracy... are you sure the cables are routed so that they don't interfere with airflow?

4* I wouldn't be too concerned about in a system I built, it is still well within limits, but I understand being picky about your own.

Same BIOS version?

Airflow is exactly the same and yes the same BIOS version well I'm still running Prime and now its up to 58C. Case temp is 32C. I have a standard HSF and case airflow is 2 120M Fans and one 80 M side Fan. So its just a basic airflow. Cables are not obstructing airflow at all, or better yet the cables are in exactley the same arrangement as before the swap. I think I may try and reapply the thermal paste.

Oh yeah forgot to mention I did add 2X512 more of ram when I swapped out the MB.

That shouldn't affect your CPU temp...

Have you checked to see if the actual voltage is the same vs the previous board? MBM5 or onboard hardware monitor?

yeah i checked the volts in bios and they are the same. this is the only comparison I can compare to because i did not check it in mbm on the other setup, only in the bios.

Well I ran Prime 95 for ten hours and the temps stayed at 55c I have a speeze all copper cooler its rated to cool up to a prescott 3.4 so I thought it would do the job better than its doing now. Oh yeah I am also using artic ceramic and have burned it in for around 24 hours.

I also heard that while these are high they are in acceptable range and that intels can take up to 70C is that true?

My case temps max out at around 32C tops.
(120 Intake Front, 120 Exhause Rear, 80 Intake Side, and also PS exhausting as well.)

Oh I also followed directions on the websit on applying the ceramic. Anything else I should try to maybe lower these temps?

Are these exceptable results, the systems idle temps are around 40-42c thats reading off of mbm and the load temps after 8 hours is 54-56c.

temps are certainly within acceptable range, even if they are a bit higher than previous.
Intel says the P4 is good to 70*C before it throttles, I think 90*C is the absolute limit, personally anything over 60*C starts to get my attention.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Hey any recommendations on a good heatsink that utilizes the clips to mount. I dont want to remove my motherboard to put on a heatsink. Also my pc moves around a bit so I wouldn't want a really heavy heatsink so as not to stress the mounting brackets.

I have a CoolerMaster Jet 4 and this HSF, my temps down about 5ºC. Now
CPU IDLE: 49-50ºC
CPU FULL: 54-56ºC

With my old Spark 7
CPU IDLE: 50-53ºC
CPU FULL: 60-62ºC
