I got an old gateway that had a PCI Vid card die, and now needs a better card, so now im wondering what i can get, looked at a 9250 @ compusa for 30$, but it was 4x/8x only, and this old MB is an original 1ghz board, runs my Savage4 32mb AGP card fine, but have no doc.
Im assuming from what i read that it is a AGP 1 card, and cant run anything else, i remember the voltage problems with cards of that age, but then i thought they went to a different connection set and fixed that, but looking @ newegg, there was a 8X AGP with 2 slips in the connection, and one with only 1 split. Which is what, and where do they work in. Im looking at those for a New mobo/cpu/ram upgrade.
Is it voltage differences that have different connections, and if so how do i check. if it says the MB has 8x, does Any 8x card work?
Thanks - been out of the loop for a while with this stuff, my 5700 ultra + Zalman works fine ;)
