Okay so im building a computer with a socket 939 board and an athlon 64 3000 processor. The powersupply I have is an FSP 450watt. So, here's where i'm confused: first off it came with the 20+4 power connector, but they were broken appart. Now, I'm pretty sure I got it on right, but that doesn't cut it for me, how do I now which way those extra four pins are suppose to go. The labeling on the wires does not give them any description. Right now I have the orange and black cords on the outside. Okay, so my next q's is: next to my cpu there is a 4 pin power connection on the motherboard. My manual says it will provide 12V to the CPU power circiut. Does that need to be plugged in and if so is it the 4 cables that are yellow and black. Sorry for the (possibly stupid) q's, especially if I made it sound more confusing than it is. I have never built a system with a newer board. If anyone has an ideas it would really help. Thanks

Are there no sliding grooves on the 20+4 connectors? Is there a clip on the 4pin connector?

On my psu, there are grooves on the sides where i can slide the 4pin connector onto the 20pin connector thus making it almost like a 24pin connector. There is only one way for it to go in according to which side the plasic clip is on.

Yes a 12v is the 4pin connector. It is the same one you use for most of your cd-drives, harddrives, etc. If your manual says to connect it, then you need to.

The groves really aren't there thats why I was confused, but I think I got it figured out. Thanks for the help
