I'm getting ready to redesign my WC rig and was thinking about using quick connect fittings this time. I was checking the out at:
http://www.mcmaster.com/asp/loadpagerange.asp?begin=148&end=152&qi=
but I'm a bit confused. I'm using 1/2" ID Tygon, but I'm not quite sure which fittings to get. Which ones have you guys had the best luck with? Also, I assume that we would need ones that are barbed on one end for the hose end?

Quick connect sizing is based on the OD of the tube. There for you will need to use 5/8OD fittings in order to use 1/2 ID tubing

This is how they work

well not all of them are that way

you can pretty much get them any way you like from hose barb or NPT to panel mount
Colder Products various lines of hose barb are specified for the ID

I'm using McMaster-Carr brass hydraulic double shut-off quick-disconnects designed for 1/2" NPT. Both stem and socket (whatever they're called) are female NPT threaded, so I can thread them onto any kind of barbed fitting with NPT threads.

Cost me an arm and a leg, but they're built like tanks and have been working superbly on my WC rig for a year now.

Distributed locally through various plumbing supply houses
In Colorado there are like 3 or 4 houses that carry various ones "instock"
but you might need to order a specific model
not a "retail" product, so you can just pop over to a store for it
dont know of any online either

sorry
