Confused about intel clock speeds

I usually stick with my AMD's, where the clock speeds must match between memory and cpu or the performance would be dead. I just got a notebook with an intel processor. Could someone point me in the right direction on how the cpu/fsb/memory speeds match up? I remember reading a while back that they don't really need to. I have a core duo 1.67 GHz and the memory is DDR2 533MHz. I swear Intel has me so confused.
