Hello everyone,

I finally have 3x 23" monitors (Acer S231HL, Dell U2311H, Acer S231HL) and I was trying to setup up Eyefinity with HDMI cable, DVI cable, and Display port to HDMI cable. I found out that I need a Active Display port cable for eyefinity to work. I guess my DP to HDMI cable is not active. Will DP to DP cable work for eyefinity since my Dell U2311H has a DP input or do I have to buy some thing off of ebay (e.g http://cgi.ebay.com/Sapphire-Active-DisplayPort-DVI-Adapter-/160593954338?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2564254622 )
This is what I have rite now (DP to HDMI)

Thanks,
NicaDeli

If you have a Display port capable monitor, definitely use it!

Unless I'm missing something you should be able to connect the Dell via Display port, and use the DVI and HDMI connectors/cables for the Acers. No adapters required.

I thought the same thing in till I started chatting with a a tech from monoprice,. He told me that I have to buy the adapter to use eyefinity.

To connect one card to 3 displays, one connection must be either -

Video Card Displayport -> Monitor Displayport
or
Video Card Displauport -> Active Adapter -> Monitor DVI]

The reason is AMD cards have 2 signal clock generators, which are required for DVI/HDMI. An active adapter provides its own. Displayport (native) does not require it.

For your setup you would do -
Displayport -> Displayport U2311
DVI -> DVI Acer S231HL
DVI -> DVI Acer S231HL

Thanks for the info. will place the order for the DP->DP cable.
